Transfer "O" Visa to new passport?

Featured Replies

Hi, hoping someone can help with the below question:

Myself, wife and two children are currently in Thailand doing some volunteer work. We are here for about 10 weeks, on Non-Im "O" Visa's. Single entry for 3 months.

My daughter just received a new USA Passport in Bangkok as her's only had a few months left.

My question is: do we need to get her "O" Visa transferred to her new passport? or will they just stamp her out on her new passport when we leave in August? I was planning on just having both passports available when departing, but just wanted to be sure.

thanks!!

Hi, I'd imagine you don't need to transfer the visa to new passport, I got a new passport in August last year, my non imm o visa based on marriage was left in my old passport, I just presented both on each of the 3 following entries I had until the time arrived for me to apply for a new visa, no issues at immigration,,, I'm not 100% sure in the case of doing volunteer work you may be different, but I'd guess not

Visas are never transferred into a new passport so just present both on exit and get stamped out on the new one - only if you had an extension of stay would you have to visit immigration to transfer the information/extension.
