90-day extension of 90-day ED visa possible in-country?

Featured Replies

I'm into my second month of learning Chinese on a 90-day, single-entry ED visa.

At the end of this visa period, if I want to continue my studies for a further 90 days, do I need to get a new 90-day ED visa from eg - Penang? Or can I extend my visa by 90 days at my local immigration office?

For whatever is the correct solution, what documents do I need to show to get the 90-day extension/new visa?

Thanks

You can get an extension at immigration with documents from the MOE and the school, You should ask the school to get the documents together.

Last I recall they were doing a 6 month extension in Phuket.

Thanks for that information. Bearing in mind the latest posting about overstays, I want to be sure that I have everything ready to make an extension to my ED visa, if my new business papers for a B visa are not ready.

Since my aim is just to learn basic, conversational Chinese (to help Chinese tourists at the airport etc), and my learning is going well so far, I might change after 3 months and do 90 days of conversational Japanese.

Forget about learning Russian, (even if is a language in demand). I tried to learn Russian before, but gave up - it is a difficult language to prounce.
