Connection
I recently obtained a 60 day extension from Immigration and I will be using a new passport to leave Thailand, with the old passport having the extension of stay stamped in it. Is it OK to use the old and new passports together at the border or do I need to get the extension of stay put into the new passport? I have heard that when I go to pick up the new passport at VFS in Bangkok the old passport will have the corner cut off it and cancelled. Will that extension of stay in my old passport still be valid at the border? Many thanks in advance.
ubonjoe
Your extension will still be valid. Immigration will transfer your stamps to your new passport. It would be best to get your stamps transferred at immigration before heading to the border. You will need a letter from the UK embassy confirming you got a new passport from them. Some border crossing will send you back to the local immigration office near the border to get the stamps transferred and some have asked for the letter.

Connection
Wonder please if anyone has applied for a letter from the UK embassy in Bangkok confirming a new passport? I wondered if we could do it online rather than go all the way to Bangkok if possible? Many thanks in advance for any pointers

You need to contact the embassy and they will email a form to you that you can email back to them with scans of both of your passports. They will then mail the letter back to you.

Maestro
Take the original of the old passport along, too, as immigration may want to look at it, but they will definitely let you keep it.
