Passport's required validity for entering Thailand

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My passport is valid up to 4-feb-2015. I'm intending to travel to Laos, applying there for a Thai visa when my passport will still be valid for 6 months and then on 16 August (where my passport's validity will be about 5 months+, but less than 6 months) to enter Thailand.

Will that be any problem? Is there any regulation that when entering Thailand with a tourist visa the passport has to be valid for at least 6 month?

The problem will be entering any neighboring country with less than 6 months validity. They all require 6 months validity.

For Thailand it depends upon which country you are from. Many can enter with a passport valid for length of stay,

But entering with less than 6 months at a border crossing can be different if the immigration officer is not aware of the rules.

I'm a holder of Israeli passport. My concern is only about Thailand, as I'm aware that other countries will require 6 months. Is there any official information about it from Thai Immigration online?

There is nothing on the immigration website. The MFA website does not mention it other that for issuance of visas. http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/123

I use the IATA info that you can check here that states you only need validly for the length of stay. http://www.staralliance.com/en/services/visa-and-health/#
