MrWorldwide
I think it looks much more impressive in the flesh. Captain Stubing and Gopher are almost certainly waiting in the lobby This is what Patts will look like in 2050. Relax - we won't be here to see it ! Popular Post NanLaew
Awww, MrWw. I was hoping you could have cruised further down Coconut bar a tad and given our furtively lurking Pattaya bashers a similarly wide-angle shuftie up the magnificently spreadeagled arse-end of Soi 6. Bugger the twilight spectacle, Give us the redlight one! Now THAT'S the future of Pattaya!
Suradit69
"Captain Stubing and Gopher are almost certainly waiting in the lobby" Quite so, but he's been in Patts a bit too long, Capt.JPG I wonder why some people refer to Pattaya as Patts. Among all the indignities heaped upon it, that seems to one of the more irritating and it's use is normally reserved for Pattaya bashers who claim they would never come here (but seem to think they know all about it). Pattaya's very own twilight spectacle Not sure why floodlit palms and garish neon lighting qualifies as being "romantic" either. If that seems tasteful or turns your thought to romance, you'd probably become positively orgasmic in LV. I mean the Eiffel Tower, the pyramids and Venice all rolled into one big neon nightmare ... I mean twilight spectacle. Edited July 9, 2014 by Suradit69

MrWorldwide
But it's still Pattaya. Quite tacky really. Hence the Captain Stubing addendum - Aaron Spelling made a lot of money from some truly dreadful TV shows but nothing he did was worse than The Love Boat. I can happily sit through the first series of Star Trek but Spelling's wafer-thin characters were just cringeworthy. If you want a reminder that the 70s and 80s wasnt all beer and nekkid ladies, look no further.
MrWorldwide
FWIW, I think there are many people in Pattaya who wouldnt have a problem with the city becoming another Vegas. Let's face it - even with Thailand's stance on gambling that's far more likely than it morphing into another Singapore.

I know that show was based on the devil.

I know that show was based on the devil. That would be 'Fantasy Island' and I believe it followed Love Boat every Saturday night in the States. The little guy, Tattoo, had something of a cult following but the actor had a few problems and eventually shot himself. Game of Thrones fans will recognise Peter Dinklage as the only Lannister they dont want to see dead, but I admit that I have problems imagining him as Villechaize. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herv%C3%A9_Villechaize In a March 2012 New York Times interview, Peter Dinklage revealed that he and Sacha Gervasi had spent several years writing a script about Villechaize. Gervasi, a director and journalist, conducted a lengthy interview with Villechaize just prior to the latter's suicide; according to Dinklage, "[a]fter he killed himself, Sacha realized Hervé's interview was a suicide note".[6] The film, entitled My Dinner with Hervé,[7] is based on the last few days of Villechaize's life, and will star Dinklage in the title role. Let's face it - even with Thailand's stance on gambling that's far more likely than it morphing into another Singapore. I thought that there were casinos in Singapore already; very strictly controlled it being Singapore. I love Vegas and I love Pattaya too and I love the fact that they are both so much different from each other. I'd like it to stay that way. MrWorldwide
The casinos in Sillypore are tightly controlled, or at least they are supposed to be - locals have a daily limit, but very few of us were born yesterday. In any case, the high rollers can just get on a plane to Macau or HK. Thailand, AFAIK, has zero legal casinos - if that ever changes I'm quietly confident that Pattaya would be seen as the ideal place for a casino trial.
