Thailand Police Check

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have done a lot of researches about this topic. However, I am a bit confused. My husband lived in Thailand for more than a year. And We plan to fly to Thailand to apply for a PPC. I have a few questions, please help me if you know.

- People say We have to go to VFS to ask for a letter, and bring that letter to Royal Thai Police Headquater. I am not a Thai. Can my husband (an eligible new zealand citizen in AU) get that letter?

- Do we need to get his photos of passport and visas certified? And how can we get his documents certified? Can we do it in Thailand? If We can do it in Thailand, how can we do it? It is so expensive to get documents certified in Australia for oversea use.

- Have anyone used service/ agents to get PPC? I found this service http://www.a-plusservice.com/ . It seems less complex and we can do it from Australia without fyling to Thailand. They only need us to scan documents, fingerprints and send money via Western Union. They will send us result after 10 working days. Because it sounds so easy, I wonder if it is real and legal.

The cost of getting documents legalized/ certified and use courier to send those documents to Thailand is nearly similar to flying to Thailand and apply in person. And, It will save time for us.

It is such a nightmare with this PPC. It costs so much, and it really stresses me.

Many Thanks

Vivi

You can apply for the police clearance certificate by mail directly to the PCS. See: http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/

@ UPONJO: Thanks for your reply, the thing is by the time we get our documents (photo of passport/ Thai visas / fingerprints/ posting) legalized or certified, the cost is nearly similar to flying to Thailand to apply in person. And, it does take long time to go through legalization process. So, we thought applying in person will be easier, and will not take too long.

I emailed a-pluss service to ask questions, and I just got reply form them. Here is a part of their email: "Reason to use fingerprint because of prevent and avoid from client agency complain but you unnecessary take fingerprint at the police office, can take by your self.(normal you can not take by yourself) but we can accept because we had special offer with the police and first step we check by name-surname with passport or ID.card except you have the criminal records, so it can safe cost and fast for you"

It does sound very strange. If this service is real, I just pay for it so that I can get myself out of this polcie check nightmare.

Anyone here have any information and advice?

Thank you in advance

Vivi

Info for Thai police check here: http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/

as per post from Ubonjoe.

I applied in person for the police clearance certificate a few weeks back, there were 2 members of staff at that time on hand to help fill out the form, must choose which country the form is required for, you can also get the pics taken there, received the certificate in the post just under 3 weeks later,

for anyone concerned about expiry of the cert before it reaches the intended destination, I noted that it was dated only 2 days prior to my receipt of the cert and not the date of my application, so shouldn't be no issues there

Just to add, what they told me is that if the clearance cert is relating to employment in the applicants home country then they request an embassy letter of request from your embassy, if it's for work in another country that they will accept a police clearance request letter from the company in that country,

@uponjoe:Yes, I looked at that website for many times, and even emailed the Thai embassy. I misunderstood the word "certified". Just had a look again for the word "certified". So, it means I can use JP to certified my husband's documents. Thanks so much for your help.

@ Mario: thanks for helping

@ Jonny Scot: Thanks a lot
