Non-O to Non-B Visa?

Featured Replies

I have been in Thailand since August of last year on a Non-O Visa from the foundation I was training with and working for that expired in June. I made the final border crossing just prior to expiration so I have an extention until mid September. I have been hired to teach in Phetchaburi, Thailand. What is the best option for me for remaining here? What paperwork do I need to get from the school (they don't seem to know what to do) for a Non-B Visa? Should I try to get another Non-O Visa for more flexibility--and how would I do that? Do I need to leave the country again (go to Laos or Cambodia) to get a new Visa or can this be done in one of the provinces here (maybe in Bangkok)? Lots of questions, but I'm sure someone has gone through this before and can help out so I don't get stuck on the other side of the border trying to figure out what to do! Thanks!

The cannot change non immigrant visa types. You could only go out for new visa which you should not need to do.

You should be able to apply for a work permit and then apply for an extension of stay based upon teaching with the non-o visa entry you have now.

One thing you will need will be a teaching license or a waiver.

See this topic on the teaching forum for more info: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/620210-teaching-in-thailand-what-you-need-to-know/

The school needs to check with the local labor ministry office for info on applying for the work permit.
