Flame throwers

Featured Replies

I'm interested if anyone has seen flame throwers for agriculture weed control. I don't like using weed killers and also think it would be good for water weeds on my water trenches between the fruit trees.

Around where I live they use the standard pump type backpack sprayers and fill them with deisel and use them to start the sugar cane fires. I'm not sure that I would want that on my back!!

They are available. I saw one other other day but I can't remember where! It was in a farm supply shop in Sak Lek or Phitsanulok.

I bought mine from the States, ordered through True Value Hardware with branches in Bangkok and Pattaya. the entire True Value Hardware catalogue here is available by special order. The only catch is that it will cost an arm and a leg. It is a question of how bad you want the thing.

Do you mean the handheld one they use for the roofs when melting tar?

That's like the one I got from True Value, except no backpack. I have a long hose (that's what she said) and use a truck dolly with bicycle wheels to carry the propane tank.

I wouldn't think it's a good idea to have it on your back. Probably nothing would happen, but if you did somehow manage to rupture the hose and ignite the spewing propane, you could be in serious trouble by the time you got it off you.
