Newtown Creek
Have any experienced US Merchant Mariners/oil and gas workers had success in landing Thai based offshore roles? Chevron appears to be actively seeking Thai based expat positions but aside form that I see/hear a lot of companies looking for cheaper local crews and workers. Thanks in advance. 200 GRT Master, Mate of Towing, Able Seaman
Soutpeel
I work Thai O&G, and western expat roles are getting fewer by the year, due to nationalisations policies. for the most part marine crews are are local or local SEA Masters, crew, Phillipines, Malaysian, Thai, Indo etc I am guessing your looking for positions involving supply boats, crew boats etc ?.... then almost all crew are local or local SEA guys The "golden age" of expats working the gulf of Thailand was about 15 -20 years ago All I can suggest is reaserch the marine companies who provide vessels/services to the operators in the Gulf of Thailand and contact them, but I wouldnt expect too much coming back from them, could you find something ?... maybe but you will need to be extremely lucky not intending on p*ssing on your parade, just trying to give you the reality
Newtown Creek
Sounds about right. Resolve told me something similar in an interview. Thanks.
