which Visa shall I use now?

Featured Replies

I am flying to Thailand in September and based on my "Visa history" I am not sure which visa would be the safest option.

My history:

On my first visit to the Kingdom I used a double entry Tourist Visa with a 30 day extension on the second leg. I was in the country between April - Sept 2012

On my Second Visit I used a triple entry Visa with a 30 day extension on EACH leg, beside that I have my first (and only) 30 day stamp at the end of the last leg, follwing a 5 day break in Penang. I left Thailand 7 days after that 30 day stamp, This was all between Sept 2013 - May 2014 (so I was away for exactly a year between these two visits.)

I have a flight for the 2 / Sept 2014 and a return flight back to Europe on the 6/April 2015. By the time I fly in I will have been away for more than 3 months.

Should I be worried? Would it still be possible to fly in and stay until April with a triple entry Torist Visa? Should I get a new passoport just in case? I know they can probably check all my previous history in the computer but it might be less glaring than a passport full of cambodian Visas and re-entry permits...

I was also thinking about getting an ED visa and go to Thai classes (I was taking classes anyway last time I was there - so it wouldn't really be too much of a hassle) My problem with that is the shortage of time between now and my departure. ED visa paperwork takes about 4-6 weeks to process and you are the mercy of the Thai (and in my case the Hungarian) postal system (Neither of which is good to be in the mercy of, in my experience), that would mean getting a TR visa anyway and dealing with my ED visa paperwork once I have arrived. Which brings me back to my original problem (ie. Could my history of TR visas be a problem?)

If I have to go down the second route... has anyone heard of foreigners being rejected after returning (from lets say KL or Penang) with an ED Visa?

Sorry If my post makes little sense, but I am beginning to freak out :S

Any help, info or intel is greatly appreciated.

With your history of only tourist and one lone exempt entry you should have no problem using a 3 entry tourist visa for your trip.

The current tightening of the rules are for those attempting to live here long term on exempt and tourist visa entries.

If you decide to attend school you will have no problem entering on an ED visa.
