One day overstay

Featured Replies

I'm currently on a non-B visa that will expire on 31st July. I need to get a new non-B visa in Vientiane but I won't arrive in Nong Khai (by bus) until 1st August meaning I will overstay my visa by about 9 hours lol.

Given the current situation, if I am stopped on the way will there be any issues with the junta? Also, after paying the 500B overstay, could this affect my chances of getting the non-B visa?

How easy is it to get back to back non-B visas (I will have all the correct paperwork), would it be better to get a tourist visa instead then convert it later? I've never had back to back tourist visas and always had a work permit.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Why you can't get an extension of stay with your work permit ?

Regarding overstay, I would not worry at all. As of today there are reports of people that is leaving to Laos with overstay and/or back-to-back of all kinds, gets a visa, and comes back immediately without any issue.

That being said, you can get a 7 days extension at Immigration, that cost Bt. 1,900,

The chance of getting caught on the way are slim and the few hours of overstay you have will make it less likely.

That little overstay will have no effect on you being able to get you visa or returning.

As long as you have all the correct paperwork for your visa you will have no problem getting another visa. I have never heard of anybody being turned down for a 2nd non-b visa.
