I am currently working at a government school. I am on a NON B. I am seriously considering resigning from this a Monday to Friday job and taking up more work at my weekend job. The weekend job is a private language school. They can get me a work permit, but I am worried about the interim period, meaning the transfer. I have heard that it can be a sticky situation if the employer you are leaving is uncooperative. I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer.

I am married to a Thai national. I have had a marriage visa before, based on having 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account. I am considering leaving my current job and possibly trying for another marriage visa. I would then try to organise the work permit through my new employer. Basically I know that, if you go to immigration and you have the cash and all the paper work that its pretty straight forward to get the visa. However......the money I have in the bank has been from my work here in Thailand. Can I use it, or does it absolutely need to come from an overseas source? Would they understand the situation that I am in? Would they understand that I may work LEGALLY again and get a work permit on that visa?

I would really appreciate some input.

Thanks

Wen your employment end you just cancel your current permission to stay and can apply for an extension based on your marriage. No problem that the money comes from within Thailand, no requirement to have to come from abroad. But it must be in the bank for 2 months before you apply.

Otherwise you can get a 60 day extension without showing financials.

You would have no problem obtaining a work permit on an extension based on marriage.

Thankyou. I was almost sure that the funds needed to be from overseas???Anyway, if not thats great. As I said I will be getting another work permit eventually.
