Dealing with Bats

Featured Replies

A while ago we came back to the CM house to find the attics/lofts infested with Bats. They were out at 18.00 back at

05.00

Rang Pest Control Central ie. Amphoe/Tessuban

6 'operatives' arrived quickly equipped with ladders and plastic bags

In the roof.... later ..Emerged later with 2 bin liners full of bats. "Now no problem"!

Not exactly WWF approach...........

We re-pointed the roof tiles etc, replaced the ceilings, and outside boarding

Put up netting to prevent ingress/exit

A month later..plenty of Bats...

I guess they are a bit like birds....returning to the site where they are born

Tessuban back in the roof letting of bombs...better solution...ha ha

Lots of shell shocked Bats reeling on the patios

My only problem with the bats is that they are numerous and diseased and shit everywhere

In the UK you would have to have a permit from DEFRA under the EU bat directive to even poke one

What to do here?

What to do here?

There are numerous options:

Bat Somtam

Bat green curry

Penang Bat

....

Potatoes soaked in creosote used to keep rabbits above ground. Placing similar in your loft might help.

Call Batman!!!

Don't even go there. I have what's called a Natural England bat license running on one demo/regen job. Multiple species, rare ones too. It's a nightmare. I mean a true Dracula style nightmare. Bats come first before anything happens . . . so not much happens. If we kill one I go to prison.

You need to block any holes the bats can get in and this can be less than a inch!!!

They will find a way in.

I've got the UK's foremost bat expert coming to site this week and I'll ask advice. I do have a rather large method statement for dealing with them if you need it OP.

Not even Bats in the Belfry..Though my dad in his churchwardenly capacity did try to smoke them out of the church with

some dire smelling candles..but that was in the days before PC bats came in.

Apart from amusing recipes..they are a bloody nuisance

It seems they don't like rain and get disoriented so end up in the morning lying and twitching on the porch. Have to

collect them otherwise the cats try to eat them..I will have vampire cats.... and then there are the ones that are

rotting in the nets on the gables like abandoned prawns........

Help

Napthalene commonly called moth balls keeps bats away.
