Phnom Penh for a tourist visa, or Vientiane for a single entry non-o?

Featured Replies

I've had a search through the 'Latest Reports Of Getting A Visa In The Region' thread and there's nothing since 2011 on tourist visas from PP, any recent experiences of aqcuiring a 60 day tourist visa there? I want to book my flights now so I need to know how long I need to be there for.

Alternatively, I could go to Vientiane for a single entry non-o.

My current visa expires on Friday so I'm wondering if I apply for my visa on Vientiane on Friday, when would I be able to collect? The same goes for a tourist visa in PP, if I applied on Friday when could I receive it?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

MD

In Vientiane an application made on a Friday could be picked up on Monday afternoon.

In PP it might be Tuesday or Wednesday unless you used an agent to get it back on Monday.

Thanks for your quick reply Joe, much appreciated, that'll give me enough time to park my arse in Luang Prabang for a few nights :)

Why not just go to vientiane on Thursday and then you will receive it back Friday.

I just did a 60-day tourist visa in Phnom Penh a few weeks ago. Pretty simple.

If you apply directly at the Embassy it is a 4 day turn-around. If you use one of the travel agents in town , its two days, assuming you hit their cut off time (not sure but probably 9-ish).

The agencies can only help you with tourist visas. I was originally going for a 90 day Non-O so I did mine at the Embassy. I went for the open on a Monday and encountered no line. Turned out I was missing one of the required papers. They let me switch it to a 60-day TR without any issue. (In fact the girl in the window updated the form for me).

I had spoken with the agent at One World Travel who was recommended here. They seemed organized enough and if you need a two day turn around I'd suggest you try them out. They are on 110 about 3/4's of a block in from Sisowath (the river). Closed on Sundays. That's also a pretty lively area to hang out.

Let me know if I missed anything you need.

Change of plans, flying to PP today, think I'll just have a few days with mates then collect my visa on Monday :)
