Question regarding new visa exempt rules

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am a British student doing an internship in Bangkok. I have been here since June 28th and have just done a 3 day visa run to Laos (flew back and got 30 days 'visa-free'). Due to the new visa regulations coming into place will I be able to do the same next month in Cambodia and return by land (it's ok if I only get 15 days because I am leaving Thailand in mid-September anyway.

I already have my one-way ticket out of Thailand for 15th of September, so surely that is proof enough that I am not working here illegally long term? How exactly do they prove its a visa run and that I'm not just some backpacker touring Southeast Asia?

Or, do I have to now apply for a tourist visa at the embassy in Phnom Penh?

Sorry to all the old hands on this forum if this is a silly question :)

Currently you are working/studying illegally.

With proof of a ticket home I suspect immigration will not be difficult about letting you enter.

It is doing a trip out and then immediately back in to get another 15 or 30 day exempt entry.

Judging by your history you should be able to do one. You may be questioned on what you are doing here to determine whether you are working here or not.
