Just wanting advice on the latest and greatest party places for a group of lads to visit in the late days of December/early days of January anywhere in Thailand?

No specific type of fun required. Really just wanting to drink, eat and be merry. Mostly single guys that will be looking to socialise with other party goers. Will require daily activities like beaches, pools, jet skis, island trips etc.

Additionally advice on the best place to base ourselves for this party holiday would be appreciated...

The biggest party you are going to find in Thailand is the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan, do a google search for the dates. December/January is extremely busy so make sure you book accomodation ahead if you head there.

Their are plenty of other places to party all over Thailand. Head out to the bars and clubs around Chiangmai University, lots of fun and drinks are extremely cheap. In Bangkok you can head to RCA, Ratchada, Khao San + many other places, too many to name. Koh Samet will have a good party scene over the new years period and on any given weekend. I'm sure you will find what your after on most of the islands as a matter of fact.

Patong Beach is a pretty wild party place, that also has all the activities you're desiring.

Book ahead of time for that time of year. New years celebration rocks. Fantastic fireworks.

Plenty of after hours activities as well.

If you're on a budget the Montana hotel can work well as a base.

The No1 place to party is definitely Bangkok but if you want sun/bath etc Koh Phangan is pretty cool as already mentioned. I prefer to live somewhere down in Had Rin as its close to the action.

Chaweng beach at Koh samui is a party classic but i don't care for it that much though. I love partying at Patong beach in Phuket but all the working girls might scare you off.

Phi Phi Island off the coast of Phuket is paradise imo. Lots of young people and backpackers, laid back friendly atmosphere, crazy parties and amazing beaches. One week on Phi Phi is not to be missed.

They dont physically grab you and rip your trousers off , well not that i have seen but i suppose they might

You should check again the party's date right before you go to the island. It can be changed (no more than one day earlier or later).
