Any good long term (6-12 months) used car rental agencies near Chiang Mai? Ideally nothing fancy.

Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions for a good place to rent an older model car for a 6 to 12 month stay in Chiang Mai. We've two toddlers who will be tough on it and therefore would prefer a used car that so we are not charged a lot for wear and tear.

6-12 months rent? That would surely be a waste of money. You could buy a used car and re-sell it when you leave and recover a large percentage of your money. If my math is correct, and assuming you could find a car to rent for 12K per month, that is 72-144K THB. Nothing to sneeze at. I only picked the figure of 12K p/m because there used to be a woman that rented a 15+ year old truck out by the day/week/month over the classifieds and the rent was 12K per month. I'm sure it would be much more if you went to an agency. You would also need very good insurance coverage.

Budget Catcher (search Google) has smaller cars for rent starting at 11500 per month (5k deposit), I am currently renting one, it's a new Mitsubishi Mirage, but still the best deal I could find.
