House Republicans vote to sue President Obama

WASHINGTON: -- The US House of Representatives has passed a resolution to sue President Barack Obama for allegedly exceeding his constitutional powers.

The 225-201 vote along party lines means House lawyers will now draft legal documents to launch a lawsuit.

Its supporters say Mr Obama exceeded his powers when he delayed an insurance deadline in his healthcare law.

The president himself has dismissed it as a waste of time. "Everyone sees this as a political stunt," he said.

"If they're not going to do anything, we'll do what we can on our own," the president added.

"And we've taken more than 40 actions aimed at helping hardworking families like yours. That's when we act - when your Congress won't."

Republicans in Congress have complained that Mr Obama has exceeded his constitutional authority on numerous occasions, in order to bypass Congress by issuing executive orders.

Because he delayed an insurance deadline in his healthcare law? A law they have voted to repeal 52 times. Is the public really dumb enough to swallow this?

So the local politicians are not the only muppets

Comparing members of the US Congress to Muppets is quite unfair ... to the Muppets.

And from a practical & strategic point of view ...

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has raised at least $7.6 million online since Republicans announced their intent to sue the president about a month ago. That's a lot of cash.

Democrats have desperately been searching for ways to get their voters to go to the polls this fall. Republicans may have just inadvertently handed them a big one.

The Republicans have hit rock bottom and appear totally desperate.  Is John Boehner still crying every time he is interviewed?

Oh, were it only so.  It's going to sink a whole lot lower.

They didn't have any problem with Bush/Cheney's efforts to increase executive power. I'm not defending Obama, but they want their cake and eat it too. Both sides are acting like some really bad reality tv show.

I was expecting the usual nonsense by the Fox News tools.

The American people think that Obama is the worst president since WW2. Why even bother

making justifications and excuses for his failed policies? No one is buying it anymore.

Phooey!  "Lies, damn lies, and statistics (opinion polls)." For another view, see Post No. 14!

I think his refusing to secure the borders is reason enough. hundreds of thousands of illegals and two out of 10 have criminal records. Even a third world country is smart enough to secure it's borders. They've been flown with taxpayer money to other locations and will take even more US jobs, but of course they are the future Democratic's voting for free handouts and have already protested at the White House without fear of arrest.

I'm not a Republican lover, so am glad this bit of political theater is showing its brown stained underwear in public. The only thing it will accomplish is further reveal the Republican leaders for who they are and how they think.

If the worst they can try and tar Obama with is: some obscure insurance dated thing, then it's pretty sad for Republicans who are continually scratching for dirt.

Americans had to endure Reagan with Iran-Contra, then Bush Sr with 'read my lips, no new taxes' (he raised taxes mightily, of course, as did Reagan).  Americans then had to endure Bush Jr., who won with less votes than his opponent, and who tarnished the reputation and career of one of his best men, General Powell, by sending Powell to stand in front of the UN (and the world) presenting data that everyone else in the Bush Jr. hierarchy knew was faulty.

But the worst the Republicans can scrape off the floor re; Obama is, ......ok, sorry, I'm repeating myself.

Overall, President Obama has not met expectations. But consider that in the context of what those expectations were!

OK, next time Congress swings, would it not be appropriate to sue all those who voted in favour of the politically motivated stupid action for the costs of wasted house lawyers time.

Have not the Republican got anything better to do?

It turns out my previous post was in error. In regards to the republican house of representatives being less popular than cockroaches. Sorry for this grievous error. ACTUALLY, polling has shown they are less popular than LICE.

This being Friday and having nothing to do until the bad news comes out of the White House on their usual weekly dump, I thought a little look at all the fiscal success of the Obama administration be examined.

U.S. labor-force participation rate falls sharply in April

By Jeffry Bartash

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The U.S. labor-force participation rate sank to 62.8% in April from 63.2% in March to match a 35-year low, the government reported Friday. Some 806,000 people dropped out of the labor force, according to Labor Department figures. The commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Erica Groshen, said: "Our analysis of the household survey suggests the labor force decline was mostly due to fewer people entering the labor force than usual, rather than more people exiting the labor force."

‘Real Unemployment’ Rate Points in the Wrong Direction

By NEIL IRWIN  APRIL 4, 2014 9:12 AMApril 4, 2014 10:00 am

The unemployment rate number people talk about and analyze every time the new jobs numbers come out — such as the 6.7 percent rate reported Friday morning — is not the “real” unemployment rate. And some policymakers are among them — which makes one line in particular in the report more interesting and important than usual.

While some (we’re looking at you, Donald Trump) argue that joblessness is vastly higher than the Labor Department reports, a more routine critique is that it would be better to focus on one of the government’s own, broader measures of unemployment. It is known as U-6, the most widely defined form of unemployment out of six Bureau of Labor Statistics classifications. It was 12.7 percent in March, up from 12.6 percent in February but down from 13.8 percent a year ago.

Food stamp president: Enrollment up 70 percent under Obama

By Cheryl K. Chumley-The Washington Times Thursday, March 28, 2013

Enrollment in the food stamp program — officially the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — has soared by 70 percent in the years since President Obama first took office, a new report finds.

The government said the recession ended in 2009, The Wall Street Journal reports, but enrollment in the food stamp program didn’t wane, as would be expected in an improving economy. Since 2008, it’s been on a steady rise, The Journal reports.

A record 47.8 million people participate in the program, as of December 2012 — a figure that translates into a 70 percent rise since 2008, The Journal says. Why?

Disability insurance entitlement explodes under Obama

•In 2011, only 3.6 percent of enrollees exited the program due to "medical improvement";

Obama’s national debt rate on track to double

By Dave Boyer-The Washington Times Wednesday, October 9, 2013

President Obama likes to say that raising the nation’s borrowing limit “won’t add a dime” to the federal debt, but he neglects to mention that the government already has borrowed the equivalent of more than 60 trillion dimes since he took office.

When Mr. Obama became president in January 2009, the total federal debt stood at $10.6 trillion. This week, it hit $16.7 trillion — an increase of 57 percent. In the same time frame under President George W. Bush, total federal debt rose 38 percent. Under President Clinton, it rose 32 percent.

Immigrants to be Housed in 'Suites' Near San Antonio

KARNES CITY - Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Friday will open a remodeled detention center three hours north of the Rio Grande Valley.

The Karnes City center will house women and children who entered the country illegally through the Valley.

The 532-bed facility underwent a massive renovation to house women and children. The center housed only adult immigrants in the past.

Immigrants will be at the facility for an average of 23 days.

The feds said the rooms will be referred to as "suites." The suites are furnished with bunk beds, play tables for children, flat-screen television sets and landline telephones.

"I will refer to everyone in this facility as a resident. ICE generally refers to people in custody as detainees," ICE San Antonio Field Office Director Enrique Lucero said.

Lucero oversaw the transformation of the center.

The center has a soccer field covered with artificial turf, basketball courts, ping pong tables and a weight room. Officials also have plans to install a playground.

A charter school from nearby San Antonio will provide schooling and access to a library for the immigrant children.

The immigrants will get medical screenings. Children will receive physicals within 24 hours of arriving at the center and women within a week.

"There is a dentist on site," Lucero said.

There is a room where the immigrants will get to pick new clothes. Every illegal immigrant will be able to choose six sets of clothes, including shoes and socks.

"While residents are here ... we will provide a safe and humane environment," Lucero said.

The feds estimate it will cost approximately $74,000 a day to house 532 immigrants at the center. That's an average of $140 a day per person.

Officials did not disclose how much the government spent to refurbish the center.

That's interesting. Can you name not 100, not 10, but just one country in the world that America is on better terms with now?

France.

Indonesia.

Malaysia.

Anyway, I'm not talking about government to government.

I'm talking about civilian populations.

There was celebrations all round the world when Dubya left office. It would have been the same even if McCain had won.

The depth of hatred for that man by non-US citizens was unprecedented.
