Can I re enter in Thailand before august 12th

Featured Replies

I am french with a permanent resident card in singapore and home address in singapore in my passport.

Currently staying in Thailand

I need to return to singapore for 2 days max between august 1st and august 10th and come back to bkk again. in btw I have already several tourist stamps in my passport since jan 2014.

question: would i have any problem to re enter in thailand before new enforcement rule august 12th ?? or it will be just another tourist stamp in my passport ?

last time immigration ask me why I was having several stamps so  I show my PR Singapore card saying am exploring biz opportunities here and imm officer says Ok

You have been apparently been using 30 day visa exempt entries to stay here. It seems you may fall under the profile of doing out/in entries where you are staying here for 30 days and then going out with the sole purpose of getting a new 30 day entry and doing an immediate re-entry after leaving.

I suggest you get a tourist visa from the embassy in Singapore. This would give you a 60 day stay that you can extend for 30 days. You need to travel during that time you could get a re-entry permit that would keep your 60 day entry or the extension valid.

It's up to the Immigrations Officer you hand your passport to when you return. If you enter at a land border in the south it seems there's a good chance you could be refused. If you plan to fly into Bangkok, your airline may not allow you to board if you don't have a visa or a return ticket.

No one at Thai Visa can tell you for certain what will happen. There have been reports, rumors, whatever claiming people have been refused entry and others have been warned this entry would be their last etc.

There is nothing magical about August 12th. If you have been using visa exempt entries many times in order to stay here for extended periods of time, that is already a misuse of the visa exempt entry so an immigrations officer could easily refuse you.

Without a proper visa the risk will be higher that you will be denied entry. With a visa and a passport full of visa exempt entries and you try a land border you could still have a problem. Up to you. Chok Dee.
