City shutting off Soi 6/1 ‘geyser’ by replacing drainage pipes

PATTAYA:--For more than a decade, North Pattaya’s Soi 6 neighborhood had its own local geyser, at least during heavy rain storms.

Pattaya workers are finally replacing drainage pipes running 500 meters under Soi 6/1 and ending on Beach Road and the corner next to a long-standing cafe. For years, diners sat at the open-air restaurant and watched as storm water shot high into the air from the drainage gate there. Water frequently ran about 50 cm. deep at the foot of Soi 6.

Contractor K Sky Co. is now ripping up the old, small pipes and replacing them with larger versions. Once complete, the work should also help preserve Pattaya Beach at Soi 6, where flood waters raced down the two sois and carved huge tracts out of the sand there.

Haha, geysers and geezers on 6/1smile.png

This job has been ongoing for what seems like a year.  (Not that I am a regular visitor to 6/1.)  A couple of British navvies would have completed the job six months ago.

No, because they would never have got past the first bar.
