Until today i had intended doing my 90 day Non Imm 'O'  visa run to Kanchanaburi border. Now i have been told that this is not now possible. Is this correct ?   Why have they moved the goal posts ( apart from usual Thai officialdom stuff ups) Can someone with knowledge please let me know if i will be wasting my time going there.

Myanmar has moves the goals posts. You would need a Myanmar visa, issued in Bangkok only. So Laos and Cambodia are better, visa on arrival or E-visa for the latter (selected crossings).

That's what I have read here about the Kanchanaburi crossing.

 

I can't confirm whether or not the same applies for Mae Sot.

As said the problem is on the Myanmar side of the border. They no longer do border passes you must get a visa before you cross.

Does that apply to all Myanmar crossings including Myawaddy?

Only at the crossing in  Kanchanaburi. No changes at other crossings.

So am i correct in assuming that the alternatives will be Mae Sot or Ranong.................bugger, just booked my train to Kan !
