Prescription Medicine Doctors Letter?

Featured Replies

I am visiting thailand on 26th July for 2 weeks, I have read on the interent that you need to take a doctors letter for prescription medicines.

I will be taking hayfever medicine, a skin cream and malaria tablets.

is this letter essential? as I am sure most people probably take malaria tablets without a letter and so many peopple suffer from hayfever now.

I am flying into bangkok, then on to koh samui, koh tao and koh phangan, before back to Bangkok for a flight home.

i have just popped into chemists and got whatever i wanted including VIAGRA :o

DONT THINK YOU WILL HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH THE ITEMS MENTIONED

If you have the meds in the original containers with your name on the bottles, you are totally OK. Also, the chances of being searched arriving in Bangkok if you walk through the green nothing the declare area are very remote.

I don't know one person in Thailand who takes malaria tabs.

We all use a strong slapon repellant. Up to 80% DEET!

Are you going hiking nr the Burmese border?

For what you are bringing to Thailand Sadie I don't think a letter is needed. Most prescription medecines can be bought over the counter at any pharmacy anyway. The only time I would suggest a letter is if someone is bringing some particulary hardcore meds of some sort, common sense prevails.

totster :o

Any pharmacy that wants a prescription or letter from a doctor, would not be legally permitted to take a prescription from someone not licensed in Thailand. However, as mentioned, most medications don't require a prescription. If you need to have a prescription refilled and have trouble, just go to a hospital, with your letter (or without) and tell the Dr. what you want and they will set you up with what you need.

It's pretty easy and inexpensive.
