Stay in Thailand if your Thai-wife dies?...

Featured Replies

My Thai-girlfriend and I have a son together. We are planning to get married in the near future.

In case she should die before me (which I hope not)... then how are the options for me to stay here in Thailand?

Exactly this happened to me.. I am told technically your marriage extension is cancelled within days, tho I of course just stayed the rest of my time. It's pretty cold considering your grieving at the time.

I am unsure how being a parent will add to your options.

Actually the regulations just changed on this and seems to allow common sense that permission of stay does not terminate the same day your wife dies.

That makes it clear that you extension does not end upon your wife's death. I signed the new acknowledgement last week when I applied for my extension.

It allow time for you to make arrangements for your next extension. In the case of the OP he could apply for an extension based upon being the parent of a Thai.
