Economy Thai Baht's Rise in Jeopardy Amid Political Uncertainty
Actually, Viet Nam, Philippines, Indonesia, Lao, all ASEAN nations, are as cheap, or cheaper, and more welcoming, than Thailand, I'm not sure about Cambodia, Malaysia or Myanmar. -

close encounters of the thai kind
Yes, like others have mentioned here, happens every time you drive a few km's. But this morning it was a little different for me. I went to the bank and just as I turned into the entrance a m/b driven by a non-thai and young lady sitting behind (no helmets). I wasn't about to back up as the main road was thick with traffic and not only that the exit was just a few meters away. Fortunately, a Thai bank guard came out of the toilet (on the left of m/b) and gestured the bike rider to use the exit. The bike rider gave me the 'v' sign as the guard waved me through. How pleasant, I thought. -

Safest and Easiest Thailand Border Run Checkpoint in 2025 – Any Recommendations?
If you fly to Hat Yai, you can take a minivan to the Wang Prachan border in Satun, which borders Malaysia. The journey takes about three hours. When you arrive, explain to the immigration officer that you want to pay the "fee" of 2,000 baht to return on the same day. The officer will direct you to a window around the corner, where a female immigration officer will provide you with a ticket number to present on the Malaysian side. You'll then walk over to the Malaysian side, give them your ticket, and they will stamp you in and out. Then you can return to Thailand to get your stamp back in. I've done this five times so far with no problems at all. -

Yes, I forgot the one good thing that the orange has produced: the American golden T-Phone, made in CHINA, which is not yet available on the market. -

No more physical passports!
Bit surprised by all the negative reaction thusfar. What's there not to like about a digital passport in principle if it means that we'll then, in effect, have a passport for life, subject, presumably to uploading a fresh mug shot every 10 years? No more awkward trips to a VFS office in Bangkok or Chiang Mai a couple of times every 10 years. No more subsequent trips to our banks to update passport details and then to our SIM provider to update our SIM registration with the last 4 digits of our new passport number. IMHO a passport app would be much more worthwhile having on my smartphone than any of the banking apps which Thai banks seem intent on ramming down our throats, whether we like them or not!
