Visa exemption after Non-Immigrant RS expires?

Featured Replies

I've been In Thailand for the past several months working with a Thai University on a voluntary basis (no salary) and holding a Non-Immigrant R/S visa. The visa is about to expire and the work is finished, but I would like to stay in the country for a few more weeks as a tourist. In my (Canadian) passport I have one 30 day visa exemption followed by a 90 day Non-I R/S visa, nothing else. My question: can I go to a land border (Betong) and do an "out-in" or is this strictly forbidden in all cases under the new regulations? If I have to leave the country for longer than a few minutes, is there any clear indication how many days I have to wait before coming back?

Thanks for any and all advice.

You can do a border crossing turn around and come back getting a 30 day visa exempt entry without a problem,

You will also be able to get a 30 day extension of the 30 day entry also (new rules Aug, 29th).
