When i search for an email with a keyword, I am getting a huge long list of one or two emails (it can be just a draft) I amended a lot, each amendment seems to get another email

It's to the point it's making it impossible to do a search in a reasonable time.

What's causing this, how to stop it, and is it possible to remove the old ones (Except the final draft)

Composed email is autosaved by timestamp and usually the lot gets discarded when the email is sent.

Sometimes the older drafts get orphaned and the system fails to delete them.

Try this: opening your DRAFTS and TRASH and delete everything (preserve any draft you want, but delete everything else)

Then try doing your search again.

Hopefully this won't be an ongoing permanent issue for you.
