August 21, 201412 yr To avoid having a 1 day overstay, I need to extend my single entry tourist visa for a further 7 days. I want to do it correctly to avoid any possible problems in the future. It has already been extended for 30 days. Can I just go to bangkok immigration, say a few days before it expires, or are there specific rules regarding when I can extend it for a further 7 days? I attended immigration 5 days before the expiry date in order to get my 30 day extension.
August 21, 201412 yr You would not even pay the fine for a one day overstay if you are flying out from either airport in Bangkok. That is how insignificance they are. You can apply for the extension, pay 1900 baht and be given 7 days to leave a few day before you are do to leave.
August 21, 201412 yr Author Really? It was really on hearing that the authorities were cracking down on overstayers, I figured it would be best to get the extra 7 days. As I intend to return next year, I dont want any issues, no matter how remote. Yes, flying out of bangkok to the uk at 8.35am...so just an 8 1/2 hour overstay! I could seriously do without the hassle of going to immigration again. So, not even a remote chance of any issues for this short of an overstay, and no fine? If you could confirm this please? And anybody else with the same advice and ill not bother with the 7 day extension. Thanks.
August 21, 201412 yr To get the 7 days extension, you'll have to show a plane ticket out of the country.

The only problem that could occur would be if you were caught before you got to the airport and even then they would probably let you go if you showed you were leaving. You would get a little blue stamp in Thai that says you overstayed less than 24 hours when you depart.
August 21, 201412 yr To get the 7 days extension, you'll have to show a plane ticket out of the country. Incorrect. Nothing is needed for a 7 days extension, that is actually given as a result of being denied for any other longer extension.
