Help! I'm moving out from Thailand, don't know how to do with my dog!

Dear everyone,

I lived in Thailand for 8 years and running a small businese here. Two year ago my businese comes to the end, cause of the perporty owner increase the rent and the businese can't afford this high rent.

Since then I been using tourist visa staying in Thailand to try to find a job or open up another small businese, no luck! Few months ago I got a job but I must move to Australia before this Nov. I have a dog with me for 8 years since he was 3 months old. I love him alot! I been trying to find the way relocate him to Australia with me. I contacted lots of pet relocation companies and search online for months. The only option I had is to pay over 380,000 Baht. Sent him to Hong Kong or Singapore for 6 months quatantine, then from there to Australia for another 3 months quarantine. Then he can finally stay back with me in Australia. The sad thing is I can't afford this payment at the moment. And 9 months quatantine for a 8 years old dog is little too much, I think. Jack Rusell have very long life, most of them over 16 years old. And is really hard for me to live with him in Thailand, specially trying for almost two year to find someting to support my life here with no luck.

I really need this job but I can't left my dog into wild or not in a good hand and I can't afford to pay for him relocation. I try all my friends to help me take him over. But most of my friends is work in hotels or resorts They live in staff house. They can't keep a pet in there. Locals I know most is mulism (I live in Krabi). So there is no one around me can take care him for me.

Anyone can please help me give me some suggections what can I do?

Where can I find a cheaper pet relocation solution?

Any company or departments can help in thailand?

Or anyone of you may want to have a beautiful good boy Jack Rusell?

Time cutting short. I really have to find sulotion. Please help!!

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Suki

Hi Suki,

I'm very sorry about your distress. This must be horrible for you.

For a reasonable priced cargo agency, I suggest to contact:
Natcha Sankum(Jan)
Dynamic Air Cargo Co.,Ltd.
Bangkok, Thailand.
Tel: 662 693 5999
www.dynamicaircargo.com
www.hellobaggage.com

You still will be stuck with this very costly quarantine period, though. I have not idea how you can get around this. Actually, i think you can't.

If taking your dog with you is really no option, then I suggest you call and mail Soi Dog foundation in Phuket, Care for dogs in Chiang Mai, etc. they may be willing to help you by putting an add on their facebook pages for example.
Have this ad translated into Thai and ask the Thai facebook pages, where they help (stray) dogs etc. if they are willing to place an ad on their page. There are several. You can ask your Thai friends to help you with this.

Oh, and put pictures of your dog here as well. Maybe a short vdo-clip of him?

I wish you good luck.

are you sure there is dog quarantine requirement for Australia? I did not think there was. I think that you should recheck with the Australian Embassy.

I took my dogs from Thailand to malaysia with no quanrantine reqirements. But when I went to Singapore I had to put my dog in Quanrantine for one month.

Hello,

Thank you for you guys informations!

I will try to contact the Soi Dog Foundation Phuket, Thank you!

I tired to ask help from animal welfare in Krabi. But they said they already have lots of wild dogs and cats waiting for adoption. And they also said Australia is a very difficult country to bring in dogs or cats from Thailand.

I called and email Australia dogs and cats import departments. Unfortunately Thailand is the type 3 country. Australia will not allow type 3 country animals direct import to Australia. He must stay in type 2 country to do his quanrantine for 6 months, 'become' that country's dog. Then he can go from type 2 country to Australia to do another quanrantine before he allow enter into the country. I email them many times and try to prove he is a very health dog. He already got his micro chip, done all his vacinations, body check and blood test every year since he was 3 months old. All health provement from Bangkok Krabi Animal hospital. But nothing help, still a big NO!

I tried ask cargo companies, because I think if I done all myself can be cheaper, but is not. Even more expensive and the appcation is crazy. Also when he in type 2 country. Singapore or Hong Kong he will be alone and I will be working in Australia. I will not able to take care or action fast with the pet relocation.

So sad! He is a very good boy. Don't like to talk like he is a bog trouble for me :(

If anyone have more suggections, please help!

I post his photo here. Hope something can come up for both of us.

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards,

Suki

It's as Suki said. Diificult and expensive.

Suki, I'd gladly take him off your hands, but I'm in Pattaya. He would have a good life here, I could promise you that.

Hi WitawatWatawit,

I posted some of his photos on my last post. Please take a look. All I want is for him to have a good life and live with good owner. I can take him to go anywhere in Thailad. If anyone can offer him a good life. Please PM me anytime.

Thank you very much again!

I been trying for so long......

suki my heart goes out to you, being faced with your dilemer would be behond me,i think you should take up wits.offer who has promised you he will have a good life.myself I would go and visit wit.and see what the conditions he will live in that would help to ease the pain.but if you cannot get satisfaction I would rather have him put to sleep, otherwise you will have to live with, every day wondering what life he is having.i think all of us who love our dogs knows nobody can look after them like us,to think the unthinkable that he was being treated badly or running with a pack of soi dogs after having 8yrs.of love and attention.so to put or help your mind to be at rest please do what I sugest.

Thank you very much for all of you and specially Thank you the people who private message me for Benson's (my dog)new home options!!

Be honest with you, I did thinking of put him to sleep when I were very low. But because he is Jack Rusell. He got very long life, I can't cut it half by my own hand and don't try to give him a chance to carry on his life. Maybe have a better life than I can offer.

I did try my last chance to contact Soi Dog Foundation Phuket. If I need to relocate him, I must pay the price. Cause of 2 countries qanrantine and transportions. So there is no way can be cheaper. They do offer keep Benson for me til I can afford relocation him (very kind of them). But this also mean more cage time for him. Also one of my friend remind me, I'm not a Australia citizen, I only work with a 3 years contract. So if my contract don't get renew after 3 years. Benson and I will have to do this all over again to other country. So to relocate him stay with me is out of my option now! I'm a bad owner. 8 years ago I think everyting will be stable in Thailand...:(

I'm gaving hope to try to find him a new love home. I'm waitng for answers from few private message guys. And I'm now putting his full detils here. Hope someone or you know your friends can give a chance to this litte boy carry on his life with love!

Some reason my I can’t change my font. Very bad font and I can’t delete the post.

Please read this one J

Thank you very much for all of you and specially Thank you for the persons who PM me for more options and maybe a new love home for Benson (my dog Jack Rusell)!

Be honest with you, I did think about put him to sleep when I were really low and running out of time and options. But because he is Jack Rusell, he got very long life (he is just in his half). This is why I put on Thaivisa and ask for help. I can’t forgive myself to take away his chance may able to carry on his life. May also able to stay in a love home maybe even better than I offered.

I tried my last chance to contact some more animal welfare (Thank you for the tip!). If I wanted to relocate him, I must pay the cost. Cause there will be 2 counties quarantine, transportation fees and permit. So there is no way can get any cheaper. They do offer me take care of him with a monthly dog hotel cost, til I can afford to relocate him (very nice of them). Unfortunately my friend just remind me, I’m not an Australia citizen. I had a 3 years working visa to stay only. If 3 years later my contract can’t be extend. Benson and I will have to do all over again.

Therefore, to relocate him stay with me in Australia is not a good option anymore

I’m waiting for few answers from the really kind private message Thaivisa members, one of them may able to offer Benson a new love home.

I’m putting his full details here, if you or someone you know can give a chance and love to this little boy. Please PM me. I will try my best for him.

Purebred Jack Russell dog, Male, brown, tan and white, Neutered, Micro chipped, All vaccinations, All papers, No skin problems, no diseases, no hair loss or disfigurements,
Full body check and tests annually, Professional Vet washed, clipped, checked monthly at Krabi Animal Hospital,
8 years old, birthday 2nd Jun 2006
Very active, alert and astute, with razor-sharp intelligence,
Will run back home from over 200 meters away with a simple whistle,
Jack Rusells usually live up to 16 years if well cared for & lots of activity,
Well trained, well looked after, incredibly loyal and respectful of property,
Can be kept indoors or outdoors, or both, no problems, no smells.
Was a resort owner's dog, so used to lots of people,
Will look out for family and property,
Very good company and friend.
Does not bite, chew, dig, or do his "business" indoors...
Swims, runs, very playful.

He never really live with other dogs, but he have dog friends sometimes comes by to visit him. And when he in the vet / dog hotel (during my travels) He is the easiest one, said by the vet staff members. I never cage him, but every time he go to stay in the vet / dog hotel. He just go in & out of the cage himself and play with other dogs. But he really don't like cats. So if you have other dogs, may need time to let them be a friend, I think. If you have cats may not be very good, because I think they will fight.

He very protect my house, nothing (people or animals) can come into my fence without his attention. If you have gardener or pool cleaner or often visitor, you may have to let him know and stay with him for few visits. When he truths you, your friends and families, he will become the best friend and family member of you.

At the moment he stay indoor to sleep and eat, mostly he stay outdoor in the garden. He love the sun and run around.

If you truly would like to have him and give him a good life and love. Please kindly
PM me. I will contact you in person and bring him over to your place. I would like to try out his new home as soon as possible, if is ok. Because if things not work out, I still have little time to find other solutions for him.

Thank you again for everyone giving Benson and I hope and support!

Best Regards,

Suki

Post a free ad in bahtsold.com for the Phuket region as this would be your best chance to find a good home close to Krabi. Not sure if the Phuket gazette still has a free option for ads or not since they changed their website format.

Witawatwatawit, you my friend are an absolutely fantastic person!

Wonderful kindness, which I'm sure Benson will give back to you in spades. I doff me cap to you

I've got a couple of Jack Russells about the same age and the thought of being in the same predicament to Suku is chillingly horrific.

Well done Suku too, I think I feel your pain, and you've done really well by your little Benson

I'm sure all 3 parties will benefit from this scenario

While everyone is being effusive and I'm basking in my 15 minutes of fame smile.png, I think Suki should be praised - she's bringing the little fella all the way up from Krabi. That's dedication and love for you. Someone else might have just dumped the dog. My last dog died 4 years ago - a dobie, sweetest thing who thought kids were the greatest invention since the mud puddle. So I'm looking forward to having another mutt to explain my theories on rugby to.

theories on rugby hur.being a taff born and brought up with that funny shaped ball has taught my boy to play a bit.

he loves it in the front row every night in bed between me and the mrs.

tackling the mrs.from behind.

grabbing my nuts with his teeth.

bit wild when there's opposition for food.

and he loves a good bath.

that's my boyo.

Good to know that he has found a home. Though, I must admit, it was sad to hear the suggestion of putting the dog down. I dont think it is fair nor appropriate if you were to choose that path for many reasons but I am glad everything worked out and I am sure the dog would be more appreciated that you have found him a new home and letting him continue on him with his life rather than ending his life.

Dogs are amazing friends and it shows that their loyalty and friendship is rewarded by us keeping them in our hearts long after they've left us.

For those who made kind comments on this thread, I have to report that things did not work out very well. The dog was just too attached to its owner and I could not keep him. He did not like being approached from behind, and so I ended up with a gash on my hand. Then when I went out for a couple of hours, the dog took over my front yard and refused to let me back into the house. Though it was inconvenient, I wasn't upset as some dogs get very territorial and this one had the added problem of just being separated from his owner. Cut a long story short, Suki returned and retrieved the dog and is now going to take it to Melbourne with her - her parents are helping with the cost of quarantine. Sad, but that's the way it is. Sorry Suki, but glad you managed to sort things out - you're a very nice person and I wish you and Benson well.

Thanks for the update, a real shame but luckily her parents are helping her out.

Keep us informed of all the trials and tribulations as I'll keep following this topic.

^^^ I think that's the end of it, as far as I'm concerned. I seriously doubt I will hear from Suki again.

Perhaps in a couple of months I might start casting around for a dog again. But NOT a terrier :). My bloody hand still hurts.

Shame it didn't work out, but I can't fault your gesture Wit

Don't give up on the terriers mate, my little dog will be perched on my knee on Saturday arvo watching the game in Wellington, (your avatar?) and he only bites rats snakes turtles, cats, and other vermin. ;)
