August 31, 201411 yr Hi, as I read it with a tourist visa, you must arrive in Thailand within 3 months of the issue date. How about the second visa? Must I return to Thailand within 3 months on the issue date too? My plan is to apply for a double entry visa. Arrive Thailand later in September. Stay 60 days. Get a 30 day extension at immigration. After 30 days, leave Thailand for a short holiday (maybe 1 week) and then return using the second tourist visa. If that visa is issued by the embassy on 1st of September for example, do I have to use the second visa within 3 months of that date? Also, what do I put on the visa application form for length of stay in Thailand when applying for multiple entries?
August 31, 201411 yr Double entry visa is valid 180 days, not three months. In length of stays you write "up to 60 days each entry".

August 31, 201411 yr The second entry must be made before the "enter before" date on the visa. Each entry will net you a 60 day permission to stay which can be extended by 30 days for 1900 Baht at your local immigration office (but watch that "enter before" date for your second entry). "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
August 31, 201411 yr If the visa is issued in your home country it will most likely be valid for six months from the date of issue. The "must enter by" date determines how long the visa is valid as all entries must be made on or before that date and sould be 6 months from the date that it is issued. If you get a double entry visa in a neighboring country to Thailand they are usually only valid for 3 months from the date of issue and to get full benefit you must enter as soon as the visa is issued which is normally the circumstance..
September 1, 201411 yr Double entry visa is valid 180 days, not three months. In length of stays you write "up to 60 days each entry". This. There is an "enter before" date on the visa. You need to use both of your entries within those 180 days.

And the clock starts ticking when it's issued, not when you first enter country, so you don't want to get the visa long before you travel or you may be tight on time to get the maximum number of days out of the visa & extension before it expires. As others have said, look at the expiry or use by date on the printed visa, not of the permission to stay or extension of stay hand stamps put in my immigrations.
