In other words, they are the low end of mass tourism. This does not mean they are bad people in any way - but it does mean that they should not be seen as economic equivalents of individual travelers from other countries who spend more per capita. Most countries prefer fewer tourists who spend more, rather than more tourists who spend less. There is a place for mass tourism, but it needs to be managed very carefully, because it can destroy the value of an otherwise attractive destination. One need only visit Majorca or Gran Canaria to see the results. Pattaya has great potential as a cultural destination - and the authorites should be working hard to organize film festivals and legit (!) events in the performing arts to improve the brand of the city. Trying to re-brand the Las Vegas of the Sex Industry into a family friendly Thai Disneyworld is a Quixotic folly doomed to failure, but the Arts World has always been open minded and tolerant of the demi-monde. Hopefully, the new Minister of Tourism and Sports will take nofe! I take it there are no sex guides in China? The story of the Chinese tour group in Chiang Mai loading their shopping bags with food from the hotel buffet table takes some beating. TAT loves the numbers game but Thai's just can't make any money out of Chinese .Trouble is the other foreigners are slowly wising up to the scams and staying away. Wives do not always complain that husbands on a "boys night out" in Pattaya have gone to see a naked girl show. In fact, many wives will accompany their husbands to such shows. Most cultures would not take kindly to you or anyone else encouraging a stranger, even a police officer, to phone children who, based on the photos, are most likely underage, to inform them about any sexual aspect of their parents (or any aspect of sex regardless). In fact, you could find yourself in serious legal trouble (possibly in Thailand where they have serious laws against libel/slander and defamation even if the claims made are true). In this respect, you would appear to be the pervert in this context. All the men did was to go to see something that many of the adult tourists (male and female) see in places like Pattaya. You may not like it and you may not approve. That is fine. There will be plenty of people who will not approve of what you consider completely normal too (eating non-kosher meat, drinking alcohol, not drinking alcohol, cutting your hair, smoking cigarettes etc etc). Personally, on the very few occasions I have gone to such establishments I found them boring. Some were a bit tasteless, some tried to be a bit artistic but it is not for me. However, I find your assertion that the families and children of these Chinese chaps have to be informed to be far more distasteful than any strip show could ever be.. And why were they so gullible? And why would you complain to the police? Probably many of these "sophisticated" western posters have also whined about being scammed in Thailand for every little thing or been sympathetic to other westerners who have been "tricked" out of their money by even more sophisticated rural women from Isaan. We may have been scammed and whinge to our mates but definitely don't go to the cops to suffer more humiliation.Mark it up to experience.Won't get fooled again is my motto. Yeah, the Chinese tourist are hard work.In Nepal,they are starting to get a bad rep.The Nepalese are easy going,but they don't like people jumping up and down on the hotel beds,checking them out and bargaining down to the last rupee. With the rise of middle income Chinese people being able to travel o/s the more you get of the average person with not much idea about how places like Pattaya operate. Imagine my surprise to find the sex show consisted of a guy "trying" to roger another guy. I had to leave.
