Local Abstract Painter/Artist?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for any recommendations of a local abstract artist/painter?

Yes, I know there are a few along the road in Kata and Patong, but wanted to first see if anyone has any recommendations?

Would love to get a big centerpiece for our living room area of some chunky/abstract art.

Thanks in advance,

Darren

Hi

If you are looking for something unique and different, there is an Excellent Artist, in Phuket town, he has a website so if you google Wua Art Studio Phuket you will find it, the artist is. Allied Zen..

Really top notch and different..., he does not do copy art or some of the naff stuff that most art shops do.

I have bought about 7 paintings from him, and everyone I have recommended , have liked his work.

Hope this helps...

I second that opinion - stop in and see Zen; his work is fantastic.

Super, thanks for this. Will definitely check him out!

The first and only abstract artist I have ever liked is here in Phuket. Chai Batik.

Backlighted colorful abstract art which just stops to watch it once more. Simply stunning - at least for me.

Also after a piece. Put my head in Wua Art and decided to keep walking.

Not my taste at all.

I had a look at many of his paintings on the web site.

I also wouldn't hang any on my walls.

Still, most were marked as sold so someone must like them.

I ended up ordering prints on canvass ( 3 panel triptych style ) from a site in the states called greatbigcanvass.com , The prints on canvass are outstanding quality and the site regularly has discount coupons on the home page. They delivered to phuket and it came direct to the door no tax was charged. I ordered 3 times and it was the same every time.post-105221-0-55035000-1409800733_thumb.post-105221-0-16758200-1409800746_thumb.

in support of the artist , the comments by KB and OC should not put you off visiting any artists studio ...the fact they make these types of comments ,only reinforces the fact they do not understand abstract art .....or even art in general .....fossils

Sorry I know the OP was asking for local artists but when I was looking at houses and Condos every place seemed to have the same artwork on the walls and I wanted something different. The local artwork that was original that I liked was priced between 50k and 200k and I didn't want to spend that much. The 2 prints on canvass in the photos above were less than 15k each.

I just said it wasn't to my taste.

Does this mean that anyone that doesn't have your exact taste doesn't "understand abstract art........or even art in general"?

Think I';ve discovered an art snob......

no , actually i am an abstract artist ......" you put your head in and decided to keep walking" " not my taste at all" , wow you must have really had a great look and studied each individual piece from the door !!! clap2.gif

So, after checking many of the works on the web site, I said I wouldn't hang any on my walls.

From this, and because I have a different viewpoint to you about this artists portfolio, you decided I know nothing about art and called me a fossil!

Unfortunately I've met many of your kind, and rules preclude me from saying what I think, but it rhymes with banker.

I saw about eight pieces from the door. None of them struck me as something I wanted to buy, so, I kept moving. Actually went back a few weeks later after a visit to the Bangkok Bank.

My second look confirmed what I thought on my first look.

You seem to be very offended that I don't share your taste. Wonder why?

old chaps ...if you were an artist you may understand .... what offends me is the two of you post negatives about this artist . Take a minute and read the opening thread post , if both of you are such art lovers , perhaps a suggestion of where he may purchase local art, may have been a nice positive thing to do , not the usual old chap moaning and groaning ....

the "met many of my kind" comment really shows your ignorance and age !! art lover pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssseeeeecheesy.gif

as for rhyming with banker ......again ... the crowd goes wild!!!w00t.gif

Awwww bless.....the sensitive artist temperament that's easily bruised. Toughen up Picasso!

To the OP.

Find an abstract painting you like and have it copied. Saw a range of nice abstract art (I suspect they are copies) in an art shop in Sai Yuan road, Rawai. Will probably buy one myself.

We just got this one at the Shot house. PM me if you want order info.

Edit: It's felt. Genuine felt.

Yawn........

You'd be best to have a look around the Phuket Art Village, which is off of a small soi near DaVinci's in Nai Harn. Heading towards Kata from Nai Harn across from Sinbi Muay Thai you will also find Mr. Boy's driftwood art gallery ... these are all original artists, if you want something copied, I don't know where to recommend. Hope that helps!

To the OP.

Why don't you paint your own?

The wonderful thing about abstract art, is that allows anybody, regardless of talent, to call themselves an "artist".

It's so easy to paint abstract art, that even chimpanzees can do it. The three pictures below were painted by some very talented chimpanzees.

Surely, if they can do it.............?

Just trying to be helpful.

Totally agree with you, before I found the Artist that I liked I was prepared to buy some blank Canvases and some oils and get stuck in, it would of been fun actually and more personnel for sure.

Maybe the next time..
