I HAVE TALKED WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE BUT AM ALWAYS INTERESTED TO HEAR EXPERIENCES OR NEW CHANGES. sHE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE COUNTRY OVER A YEAR NOW, MAKING BORDER RUNS TO CAMBODIA. lAST RUN THERE SHE WAS TOLD TO TRAVEL OUT OF COUNTRY NOT BACK TO CAMBODIA. sHE WENT TO SINGAPORE AND UPON RETURN WAS DENIED ENTRY AND SENT BACK TO PHILIPINES. aRE THERE ANY NEW CHANGES IN THE LAWS NOW?

i HAVE BEEN TOLD TO GET ALL THE DOCUMENTS, I.E. BANK STATEMENTS, PASSPORT COPIES,WORK PERMIT COPIES ETC AND GIVE TO PHILLIPINE EMBASSY IN BANGKOK AND THEY WILL SEND TO EMBASSY IN MANILA. ANY VALIDITY TO THIS?

Sorry about that actually never noticed. Thanks, You into bluegrass music?

There is no fiancee visa possible for Thailand.

She should get a tourist visa in at the embassy in Manila.

This affidavit is often suggest for making it easier to leave the Philippines but it might help her to get the tourist visa. http://www.bangkokpe.com/consular/services/affidavit-of-support/

Yes there is a current clampdown on repeated entry without valid reasons and on visa exempt. She may even have a difficult time exiting the Philippines without a valid reason for travel so suspect that is what the advise on paperwork was about. If you plan marriage perhaps you should visit Philippines for that and then apply for travel together if you have official status allowing dependent access to Thailand. Without more information can only provide general information.

Yes, I am sure it was , as I told them all that had happened over the year and the no re-entry. What other information might be required? We plan on marriage early next year and I am just wanting her here as much as possible until then. I work six days a week and not a lot of time to travel there and wanted to bring my daughter here as well at Christmas. If you can help I can get any further info on the subject you might need! Thanks for your reply and assisstance!

I see from posts in another thread you are American and here with work permit so it should just be a matter of formality once you are married to allow your wife/child entry as your dependents - but until then it could be difficult under present policy - and she might actually have issues departing Philippines even if a visa is issued. You are not the only person in this position so hope someone with answers can help you.

unless there's some reason i.e. dictated by the filo family etc that stops you getting hitched sooner - just do it!!

Our last straw was her being bounced at the Padang Besar/Cowboytown crossing...

Fiancee Visa vs Marry early:

My, then fiancee, didn't have the common sense to attempt anything she guessed was too hard, so I did the easygoing fella thing and jumped on a 'plane, flew over and 3 weeks later we were married.

If I hadn't done that, then she would have still been in PH village to this day - unmarried/barred from ReEntry Thailand.

Doing it in her local village, followed by a honeymoon down to Oz, then straight up to the new home made all go like clockwork, and no more questions at BKK on Entry.

Filos will amazingly create lots of hurdles if they, or family, don't want them leaving PH.

I worked through each of the silly hurdles once I got to Manila. The silliest one was we were expected to do a Month-long course on learning how to be married people, so I pressured that she was a widow and I had married before, and finally she supported me in the length of trouble I was being put through, and she convinced them to give us an exemption on that.

If kids involved, make sure yous' have all the certificates showing who are the kid(s) real parents are, other wise you may be railroaded into having to buy Return tickets for the One-Way flight. PH doesn't like exporting kids, and Airlines will be the first to be the hurdle on that.

I subsequently found the best thing about getting the marriage done and dusted in PH - is when it comes to a time for Separation, PH doesn't allow divorce (Catholic country), but the filos simply wait 5 years and settle with a new white guy. She will be happy doing nothing, and you simply do the big 'D' paperwork for yourself in home country.
