gamini
What is your age? If you are just SCUBA diving you should be OK. Free diving might be risky

Free diving might be risky Sorry, but this is a very dangerous comment. At the OP, why don;t you ask one of the Pattaya DC's? They must know the local doctors best suited for your question. PiPiFFS
Pop into or call Mermaid diving in Pattaya. They will point you in the right direction of a proper diving medic. Be sure though that it is a doctor that has knowledge of diving and its medical dangers as there are many that will simply sign you off as safe to dive just for the fee. A few years ago I took a 74 year for two 30 metre dives for his birthday. I hope I am still fit and able to dive come my 70's

It certainly is. Due to the heart surgery all certification agencies would require a medical evaluation for this person by a doctor before any course. But especially now that we know he is 72. My dad is 75, a DM, and still an active diver.
Basil B
First I would suggest deciding who you are going to dive with. Get to speak to a senior member of staff (not an intern who just happens to be manning the shop), the point is not only are you looking for any doctor to certify you dive, but one who understands diving and the risks, and also understands your heart issue and the implant and will give you a honest answer. Another option is to contact DAN (Diver Alert Network), they may have a list of approved doctors.
brownknees
Thanks for replies.Having a stent inserted is not major surgery, only takes about half an hour! However when you know why its fitted then you stop to think!I do know that someone dives with two stents!,this was told me by the lady who was my instructor (still instructing at 66!!)but she did say get a dive doctors opinion first so I shall do that .Would love another few dives in Bali.Plymouth sound was my first daily dive place and would love to do it again as so much of interest re wrecks or soft corals etc .Never progressed to a dry suit though!! I really don't care who you are. If you are a diving doctor you should know better than to give advice like that without a proper examination. So yes, dangerous and irresponsible advice, even worse if you're trained in this field.

I have to agree, especially considering the advice given was inaccurate. gamini, if you had any experience in dive medicine and contraindications to diving, you would not have answered the way you did.
