September 7, 201411 yr A national newspaper today reported: "Up North, residents and business owners in Chiang Rai's Mae Sai district moved belongings to higher ground after parts of the Thai-Myanmar border, especially the Tambon Mae Sai municipality, was hit by a 30cm flood. A flash flood also caused inundation in many parts of Muang district." Can anyone report any flooding? Nothing here (SW Chiang Rai)
September 7, 201411 yr We have had some flooding East of town near Sop Pao and Phayamengrai. My wife sent me a shot of some flooding on the CRU campus yesterday. I have also seen posts from friends North of town in sois around their homes. It does seem to be localized to low lying areas and not widespread.

September 7, 201411 yr I have seen a lot of stuff on Facebook and many pictures of the worst areas posted on Chiang Rai Today and Chiang Rai Times news publications.
September 7, 201411 yr I saw the photos of Mae Sai on Facebook. But our area is normal, canals full but no real flooding.
September 8, 201411 yr A lot of talk on Facebook and in the news section of TV about China’s Jinghong Dam planning to release a huge amount of water into the Mekong River during the month of September. This will be on top of the localized flash flood situation we are already dealing with. Lets hope they control the rate at which they release the water as it will affect everyone downstream. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/758384-warnings-for-mekong-and-chao-phraya-inundation/ Edited September 8, 201411 yr by villagefarang
September 8, 201411 yr Even after two beautifully sunny days there is still some farmland underwater in our area. Here the water is rushing over a small road. Rice fields completely under water. I normally ride out in that area but my trails are under water these days.
September 9, 201411 yr Author Thanks vf. Some of the low lying areas aeround here had some water (up to 30cm) but it has all disappeared (except the paddies intentionally flooded....)
