HUA HIN:-- Representatives of the Regions Golf Courses and government officials welcomed golfers playing in the opening Event of the Golf festival at Royal Springfield Golf Course on Sunday 10th August.
The Springfield Driving Range was the venue for the opening ceremonies with Mr. Monthien Thongnit, the Petchaburi Governor doing the honour, cutting the ribbon and setting free balloons, before taking his own place in the field. The General Manager of Springfield, Mr. Theera Yenjai was particularly pleased to see the opening at the prestigious Jack Nicklaus designed Course. Mr. Theera said that it was a great event and boosts tourism in Thailand with promotion to foreigners from Asia and in Europe.
Mr Theera is eager to have Provinces of Phetchaburi and Prachuab Khirikhan named as ‘the golf provinces of Thailand’, particularly as a number of famous Thai golfers, including Thongchai Jaidee, Prayat Maksang and Phrom Meesawad are from one of the two provinces. He hopes that golf-training schools for high schools and universities in Cha-Am and Hua Hin can be opened to train more professional golfers in Thailand.
The Hua Hin & Cha-Am Golf Festival offers reduced price green fees on most of the Regions Golf Course as well a regular competitions and the chance to win a car in a lucky drawer with tickets given to all players during the months of August and September. The Festival provides a great marketing opportunity to attract more visitors to the Region away from the high season.
