Khunying Pornthip suggests law change to speed up search for missing people

BANGKOK: -- Law should be amended to enable police to launch a search for missing people, especially young children, once they received complaints from their loved ones instead of having to wait for 24 hours, said Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunan, director of Forensic Science Institute, today.

Her comment followed the case of a four-year old girl who went missing last week and whose body was found wrapped in black plastic bag and stuffed in the sewage drain of an apartment which she lived with her parents. Autopsy report showed that she was still alive at the time she was dumped into the drains as dirts from the drains were found in her lungs.

A former security guard at the apartment was arrested. He later confessed to strangling the child when she resisted his sexual approach and later dumped the body into the drains.

Khunying Pornthip pointed out that had search been launched immediately instead of having to wait for 24 hours to lapse there was a possible chance that some of the missing victims would be found and saved.

She suggested that the Justice Ministry should take the initiative to amend the law by inviting all relevant agencies for discussions about the problem of missing people and related law.

She is right , missing kids is an alarming situation , In the netherlands they have an "Amber allert" if a kid is missing then get it in the media right away .

Btw , Khunying Pronthip is cool w00t.gif

Off topic nonsense removed and replies to it.

Something like an amber alert is certainly needed for missing children. However, it does not eliminate the problem of getting the police off of their lazy butts to get out and start investigating. As long as the missing children are near local police drinking establishments or outside of the air-conditioned traffic huts they will be readily found. If not . . .

Off topic nonsense removed and replies to it.

i can't understand people who comment nonsense about such a serious topic.

She's right on this subject......

Australia, for one country, is starting to question the exact same issues....24 hours is too long....and often too late!

When it comes to missing small children, an immediate search should be started.

This 24 hour waiting period in many cases might be the difference between life and death. Good on ya Porntip.thumbsup.gif

Sexual advances on a FOUR YEAR OLD!!! What a sicko. HE should be the one wrapped in the black plastic bag and stuffed in the sewage drain.
