PEA targets electricity for all households by 2015

BANGKOK, Sept 11 -- The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has targeted that by the end of 2015, all households in Thailand would have be connected with the kingdom's electricity grid.

FOREIGN MINISTRY
New FM to visit China next week

BANGKOK: -- Foreign minister Gen Tanasak Patimapagorn will attend the China-Asean Expo 2014 in China and the United Nations General Assembly in New York this month, said Thai foreign minister spokesman Sek Wannamethee.


Tanasak will attend the Expo in Nanning, capital of Guangxi province, from next Monday to Wednesday.

Tanasak will speak at the Expo and meet State Council of China Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli as well as leaders or foreign ministers of Asean member countries.

Gen Tanasak will later attend the UN General Assembly in New York from September 24-28. He will also meet UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Sek said.

Suphanburi ready for AEC

SUPHANBURI, 11 September 2014 (NNT) - Ms. Anong Tophothai, the Head of the Suphanburi Office of Local Administration, said Suphanburi has prepared transportation, education, and cultural awareness for the arrival of the ASEAN Economic Community. Transportation has been improved to meet higher standards and bilingual signs have been put up.


The curriculum of local schools has been revised in line with the ASEAN Economic Community. Teachers have received training on the purpose of the ASEAN Economic Community. There has been an attempt to build ASEAN corners in libraries. There is also local cultural promotion in terms of dialects, costumes, food and lifestyle and a promotion for learning the identity of ASEAN countries as well.

The Head of the Suphanburi Office of Local Administration added that the citizens have to support the local administrative organizations in order to achieve the goal, of entering the ASEAN Economic Community.

Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to fix rubber prices problem

BANGKOK, 11 September 2014 (NNT) –The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has prepared measures to comprehensively alter the rubber pricing system, to strengthen prices, promote quality production, and increase the value of the product.


The Permanent Secretary of the MOAC has reworked the whole system of rubber development which includes 2 measures 9 processes and 12 projects such as agricultural financing for processed rubber, production control, removal of impractical rubber trees and growing trees from better seeds instead.

Moreover, the ministry supports encouraging rubber farmers to use their resources more productively and adopt the tools of technology to reduce production costs, to help harvesting the product, develop production processes, and promote a product transformation.

Department of Internal Trade to expand cheap food alliance to Northeast

BANGKOK, 11 September 2014 (NNT) –The Department of Internal Trade is set to expand its cheap food alliance entitled ‘Noo Nid Pa Chim’ to the Northeast of Thailand this October, after the overwhelming success of the project in Bangkok.


Jintana Chaiyawannakarn, the Director-General of DIT, has revealed that it is proposing an extension of product price pegging for 2-3 months, to the Minister of Commerce for approval.

Currently, there are 1,002 shops in Bangkok Metropolitan area participating in the project and another 200 shops in several provinces have shown their intention to join the project. It is estimated that ultimately at least 4,000 shops will be involved in the project. The shops operating within this project offer customers cheaper than normal food prices, at around 30 to 35 baht a dish.

MOSCOW: The Russian government has hit back at the Thai Immigration rules, introduced recently, banning multiple “out-in” visa runs for tourists.

Arrested Men in Black suspects not responsible for Gen Romklao’s death

The five members of the so-called mysterious “Men in Black” arrested by a combined force of police and soldiers and introduced to the media today were not the same group of Men in Black who killed Gen Romklao Thuvatham during the red-shirt protests in April 10, 2010.
