urgent query re: applying for work permit

I have previously had a WP and that was straight forward. This time due to my current school being incompetent I now may not get my work issued before the 28 September (when my non B expires)

The schools suggestion is to send their contact to immigration to get an extension (I currently have a non-B ) Assuming I get the extension will the labour office issue a work permit if on an extension ?

The work permit office will accept an extension of a non-b visa entry to issue the work permit.

The problem is that immigration probably will not do the extension without a work permit or at least an application for one.

Immigration might accept your application with a work permit application approval letter and give you an under consideration stamp until you return with the work permit.

Thanks Ubonjoe, I'm confident the school can get the non b extended. My concern was with the labour office but hopefully now that should be ok - thanks again
