I have just moved into a new apartment and my cats cannot get out. I have noticed that the female is catching her claws on everything and she stresses out alot. I have bought them a scratching post thing but they seem to prefer the couch!! Is it possible for me to clip their claws or should i take them to the vet? Obviously this will fall into the category of "How to give your cat a pill" and will need at least three people to partake therein.

The pic is Jimmy.

Sorry, seem to have posted this twice - i really do need to get more computer literate!!

Thats ok, I deleted the other one for you :o

In the US I saw plastic caps for cat claws, maybe you could get someone to mail them to you? My mom said she heard from her vet that they work quite well.

It's no problem cutting your cats claws, I do it all the time to mine to stop her scratching my 8 month old son who just won't leave her alone. Use ordinary nail clippers but be sure to only take the sharp tips off her nails, don't get too carried away.

Thanks, i shall try that. it just seems to be a waste of money to take her to the vet, but i hate to see her in distress.

Thanks sbk, i am still new at this forum posting thang!!
