Taken from http://www.harmonicinc.com/resources/videos/4k-video-clip-center#4k-clip-center there are many clips in 4k and also uncompressed 4K samples to download and test your GPU juice.

EDIT: Unfortunately after posting the movie it will not give you the option to play it any more than 720,,,,,best head to the link or click the YT link to watch it.

Click the wheel icon to alter the resolution.

My computer literally fails and goes to blue screen if I try and play anything 4k.

If you didn't watch it the video is still worth a watch @ whatever resolution you can view it in.

I can't, it'll just freeze this laptop. Soon as you hit 4K the thing goes green, then blue then dies.

similar experience here . . . although for streaming 4K online, your broadband speed is crucial too - not just the power of your computer.

incidently . . . the latest high-end £2000 Macbook Pro 15" quad core i7 + 16gb ram + 2gb dedicated nvidea graphics card, REALLY struggles to edit 4K files in Final Cut Pro X. facepalm.gif

It's just a no go, innit. That's a similar spec to my Samsung 700G7A.

Gopro 4 has been delayed until March. Is rumoured to be 4k 30fps. I wonder if it's down to a lack of supporting ancillaries in the consumer market.

it's all just a matter of time . . . the 2016 Mac's, i'm sure, will be eating 4K for breakfast. (by which time 8K will be the new slow but do-able home editing challenge, with 16K teasing everyone just around the average consumer's next corner)

I have read that Origin PC's are able to do 4K....but they cost a huge sum of $$$..more than

latest & fanciest MacBook Pro!

quality quick 4K editing/rendering machines are definitely do-able today . . . they're just not really available 'off the shelf' as such, by any brand name you may be familiar with.

If you want a good one, you gotta build it yourself ! (or get someone to do it for you)

Dave Dugdale is a guy i follow on YT. Here's his latest i7 8 core beast . . .

^^ i gave up clicking as it approached $7K+ ! laugh.png

Nice find sunshine. Think i'll just stick with 1080 for a couple more years . . . it's good enough for us mere mortals. thumbsup.gif

^^^ If you look at their "professional" desktops (full tower) make sure your heart

is in excellent working condition. I had a gander at one and stopped around 3/4

way through when the price was at $25K & I wasn't done yet...went & had a few

beers instead...much cheaper!

BTW...Welcome your return to the forum.

Wow! thumbsup.gif That was excellent!

..... and I learned something today...

I started watching on my Mac Air over wifi, there was some buffering at 1440... so I switched to my Mac mini on Thunderbolt screen, with direct connection and discovered I can use / view at 4 K 2160 ... a little bit of buffering ... but not bad...1440 was better as was 1080! My 3 bb speed is generally stable at 12 mbs...

Thanks RMX for posting! thumbsup.gif
