Hi ...

Recently read somewhere (I forgot where) there are quite a few people living in Thailand, that work 'over the internet'. These people don't deal with Thai businesses or people for their work, they just live in Thailand because it's nice and convenient.

I wonder what kind of work these people do ... ?

But my main question is ... do you need a work permit to do this? Since there is no local company to put on your permit I guess it would be difficult to obtain one.

regards,

G.

Do you have a company online already, or are you hoping to be able to start something once in LOS?

I don't have anything or hope for anything. I don't know what all these guys do that live in Thailand and "work via the internet" and I'd be curious to learn about that. Sounds like a nice thing.

But even if you have an outside-Thailand company from which you send bills to outside-Thailand companies for services rendered, OFFICIALLY you'd still need a work permit ... right?

I've read of many people here that now only trade stocks online. Most of which had established their financial status before moving to LOS however.

Even if you were to create a website that ONLY provided you advertising income, you would still be responsible for paying taxes to the country of which you have citizenship.

Others work via the internet exporting Thai goods. This however, would require you to form a Thai company, and would require taxes paid to the Thai government I believe.

If there were an easy way to just move to another country and instantly become financially stable, wouldn't all people choose to do that?

Find your passion, then learn how to profit from it.

Just a quick comment re paying taxes on your internet business. If you structure it correctly, then you don't have to pay any taxes! I run a mobile comms business targeting UK customers. However, my server is located outside of the UK and I have no physical UK office. I can zero rate my invoices for VAT and I don't have to pay UK VAT on invoices raised on me. My bank is outside of the UK/EU. I am non-resident in the UK for tax purposes. So my company is not required to pay any taxes, except in the place of company registration. Oh - just so happens that in the country of company registration, the tax rate is . . . zero %
