smotherb
My niece has overstayed her non-B visa, Sep. 14, her work permit expires Oct. 14. Correct me if I am wrong. I believe she must go outside Thailand to an embassy or consulate with the proper employment paperwork to get another non-B visa. She is waiting for the proper paperwork from her school. I believe the fine is B500/day for overstay. If so, she would already owe B4k. Would she be better off flying out of Thailand than going across a land border to pay the overstay? Would she encounter any problems getting another non-B or re-entering Thailand because of the overstay? Is there any other consideration of which she should be aware. paz
Leaving by air or land does not make any difference regarding the overstay procedure.
Mario2008
With paperwork from the school she can get an extension after having paid the overstay fine. If paperwork is not finished yet, best to go abroad and get a new non-B visa. Procedure is simply pay the fine and leave. So far no consequences for an overstay in getting a new visa.
