What looks like FROG? Cries like human baby? Dangerous?
Dear Folks, I think it must be all the rain we have had. The weather is very strange this year. Anyway, while venturing out my door, I espied this THING…whatever it is. It’s very ugly, even uglier than a frog. But, when you touch it with a stick, it whimpers and cries just like a human baby. Do you think it might be dangerous? For example, when I was young, I once read that there are things that look like this which can eject a well-targeted stream of poison into the eyes of what it might perceive to be a predator. I do not mean it any harm, of course. I just mean that I worry it might actually do harm to ME. So, what should I do, if anything? And, also, I cannot find it now, since it seems to be an expert in hiding in plain sight. Can it somehow change its colorations to blend in with the ground cover? What might happen if I stepped on it, at night, barefooted? One shudders at even the thought. Also, I could have captured much clearer images of this organism, except that I was not wearing my 3M safety goggles. So, I did not want to get too close, understandably. What should I do? What CAN I do, even? Thanking you. Regards, Gamma -

Crime Aussie Caught Smuggling 4.26kg of Ice at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Darn. I recently turned 68 and just started USA social security which pays pretty well as I have a long history of decent engineering pay. I can't imagine doing anything really stupid to make my remaining years so uncomfortable, I walk away now from arguments, family crazy sister that stole 1500 USD from me, etc. I prefer to avoid as much "imperial interference" as possible and just go about my way. Dealt with one crazy lady last year and one crazy sister this year. I could have one lose her security clearance due to drug use. I could sue the other in small claims court, file a police report etc. But I will let others deal with them as time goes on. Awaiting my 16th trip to Thailand this fall -

Accident Phuket Man Killed in Fiery Big Bike Collision on Bypass
Pictures courtesy of Khoasod. A 23-year-old man was killed in a horrific crash in Phuket on 18 August after his high-powered motorbike slammed into the back of an 18-wheeled cement lorry, bursting into flames before being struck by two pick-up trucks. The victim, named by police as Mr Atthaphon Boonyuak, a Phuket native, was thrown onto the far-right lane of the southbound bypass road near the Premium Outlet Mall in Rassada. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police and eyewitness accounts, the cement truck had been travelling normally when the motorbike, believed to be moving at high speed, ploughed into the rear with such force that it ignited in flames. Staff from a nearby restaurant rushed out with fire extinguishers in an attempt to contain the blaze. Moments later, an Isuzu pick-up travelling in the middle lane struck the burning wreckage lying in the road. Almost immediately after, another dark-coloured pick-up, make and licence plate unknown, drove through the right-hand lane and ran over the victim’s leg before speeding off. Witnesses reported both pickups were travelling at high speed. The Isuzu driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, but the second driver fled without rendering aid. Police Lieutenant Colonel Yutthaphon Promdao of Phuket City Police confirmed that officers are now examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to establish the full cause of the crash and to track down the driver of the fleeing pick-up for possible prosecution.
