Just go to the Rohinga Community nearby, grab a few Illiterate guys from a boat who was drunk at the time of the murders and can't remember anything, Put them at a table with a few look alike murder weapons in front of them with number tags on them and add some farang pointing a finger at the Guys! Voila! case solved, shut and closed. Brilliant...... I understand what you're saying......but it would be better to get the real killer/s..... That sounds to much like hard work... It's impossible too. Once you begin to unravel Koh tao, Samui and phang na will automatically become part of the same fabric. Possibly explains the slow reaction time by the army as this isn't about one island it is intrinsically about all three. What a job ahead of them should they "choose" to tackle it ! Praytuth to go to Koh Tao personally, put the foot down, enforce DNA tests and rat out the place! The scum of Koh Tao is making him the laughing stock of Thailand if nothing happens. However, in Thailand there is still a long way from solving a case to proper conviction, and still from that to actually carry out a sentence. Rather than trying to be a smart arsed know-it-all, just tell me what I wrote that you disagree with. Of course i disagree, because i have seen multiple times that even in cases where it's only thai involved the case is not taken seriously. It's not the tone of skin that will matter how seriously the investigation will be taken, nor is it the skin tone that will define how hard a conviction the person will get, neither is it the skin tone that will define how much of the sentence that will be carried out if any at all. Try learning the language and living here for a few years outside the tourist areas and you'll see that there is a big difference in the way police treat different nationalities to their own countrymen. Granted with their own there are other factors which determine conviction etc. Of course there are 50,000 people in Bangkok alone that are 'above the law' or untouchable. How many farang do you think are untouchable? I guess you're not friendly with any Laotians in Thailand or Nigerians, Pakistanis. I've a friend who's a commander in the RTP and worked with him in conjunction with the "gong brap bram" for some years and seen the problem first hand. They have for the most part completely disappeared. Now i can put my car away and venture out on my bike again in the knowledge it will NOT cost be a few hundred baht just to get past them. Yes i am legal, the last time it cost me 300 baht because i had no shirt on!!! Complete stop? Don't think so. I witnessed two last week when I was there. Also, i am not just here for a short time, i have been living here for more than just a few year, else how would i be able to see multiple times how cases have been handled. So, you ask how many farang there is untouchable, hence you somewhat indicate that it doesn't have anything to do with farang or not if a case will be taken seriously, but wether or not someone involved got connections or not. Start taking photos of Thai men frequenting brothels and publishing them on social media ( the Internet). Make it illegal for foreigners to hire prostitutes with a mandatory 1 year prison sentence. Clean up the beaches. Deny Russian mafia from entering Thailand. Thailand was once a lovely country but the excesses of foreign military on R & R have turned it into a chess pool. Thais unfortunately because of their poverty have descended to a moral standard just slightly above cave men. Ah, the old 'blame the foreigner' routine! Ignorant post! Prostitution was rampant in Thailand before the Vietnam war days and the vast majority of prostitutes in Thailand serve Thai men. Doesn't anyone get tired of this lame excuse? I worked with the Thai's & Taiwanese, plus all the US bases in Okinawa & S. Korea, with occasional trips to the Middle East. I have SEEN with my own 2 eyes, the (in)competence of the Armies in Asia. To even consider or fantasize that they are somehow magically more competent than the RBP (royal bungling police) is ludicrous! The ONLY difference, that I can see so far, in martial law & the BIB, is that the Army isn't allowed to go scam ordinary people every day, so they don't know how...yet. For sure the top brass does, but the average trooper does not. I will give top marks to the RTMC (Thai Marines) though. Them boys take their jobs seriously. Now, a four-star officer retiring in 2011 with 38 years' experience would get a yearly pension of about $219,600 - Wikipedia Yes, that makes him a "millionaire" if you convert it to Baht, but just Upper Middle Income bracket back in the states. And I would be willing to bet you would find damn few retired American Generals living in Pattaya as the poster claims. In fact, every American vet I know through the VFW and other sources, are 99% Enlisted men living on their pension or disability, as I do. Have only known of one officer, a retired Major, and he lives a comfortable, but not exactly "wealthy" life. Thai soldiers are conscripted for 2 years. Soldiers are told where to fight, they do not do it for the money. These are called private military contractors.
