September 25, 201411 yr Like the topic says, anyone have any suggestions for an apartment near Onnut BTS, looking for budget room in 5-10,000/mth range
September 25, 201411 yr I stayed at KV Mansion for a few days in 2010 and it was ok. You don't say how long you want it for.
September 25, 201411 yr Author I stayed at KV Mansion for a few days in 2010 and it was ok. You don't say how long you want it for. 6mth - 1 yr, KV looks good, only other one i found here iPremium, will go check each out, thanks for that as KV looks good
September 25, 201411 yr There are tons of budget rooms in that area, just hop off the BTS and go looking down sois. You'll find something easy.
September 28, 201411 yr is KV Mansion a serviced apartment, or is that an option there for extra ? how many meters is it really to the BTS, I wonder?
September 28, 201411 yr You can find some pretty good value places in that area, but you need to be able to speak Thai or have someone with you that can. There are a lot of smaller really nice places that cater to Thais so do not have anyone that can communicate in English. A bit of leg work and you will do well. Have a great day
September 28, 201411 yr I live in Pornpanasap Residence, Sukhumvit Soi 81 . It costs 9000 baht a month for a corner room on 6th floor. The electric and water usually cost about 600 baht a month (I don't use the AC much) It is a big room with a bathroom, balcony and 3 windows. I can walk to the BTS in exactly 5 mins. There is a 7 11 close by. There is a giant Tesco across the road from the BTS and a major Big C 10 mins walk from my apartment. I don't think there is a better place to live for the price. The lady on the desk speaks very good English Edited September 28, 201411 yr by Brightonman
September 28, 201411 yr We have nearly 100 units available close to the Onnut BTS station http://asiapropertyworld.com/thailand-homes-condos-apartments-for-rent-in-bangkok-on-nut-xctytha1-133 with a few of them in your price range. As mentioned above by Rhodie the cheaper units can usually only be found with a bit of leg work which will also give you a feel for the neighborhood. If you are going to be walking to and from your chosen apartment make sure that there are decent pavements because when it rains heavily some of the smaller sois become temporarily flooded until it can can drain away. Good luck with your search

The lady on the desk speaks very good English This is a good example of what you can find and looks pretty good. But there are better deals to be found with leg work. As an example, I know of a place a 7 min walk from Udom Suk BTS. It has a nice sized secure furnished room, with balcony, fan and aircon including cable TV. Cost is 4000 Baht a month. Electricity and water run about 1200 Baht in summer. Internet at 300 a month. These places are not always available immediately, and you may have to wait a month or 2, but they are really bargains. I know that area quite well and this is the sort of gem you can find if you look around. I like On Nut, but is is a bit more expensive because it is now quite touristy. The bonus if you are on a budget is that On Nut to Bearing is a 10 Baht zone on the BTS, so really cheap to get around in the area. Happy hunting. Have a great day
September 29, 201411 yr is KV Mansion a serviced apartment, or is that an option there for extra ? how many meters is it really to the BTS, I wonder? It's a few minutes from the BTS. It has a 7-11 over the road. I was only there 10 days so had someone clean the room regularly.
September 29, 201411 yr There are tons of budget rooms in that area, just hop off the BTS and go looking down sois. You'll find something easy. +1 Just go there and walk around or get a motorcycle Taxi that can speak a little English to drive you around the soi's, Lots of great apartments around On - Nut.
September 29, 201411 yr If it's long term, the girlfriend lives in a fairly modern, clean building on soi 56 for about 6k a month for a basic studio with aircon and power shower. I know there are often others coming up in the building. There are other westerners living there already. There's also a small Italian cafe on the corner.
