I live in Loei and later I need to travel to Savannakhet for a "Non "O" Visa is it possible to go there and back by bus from Loei. I would appreciate any help as I don't anyone who has done this run.

ANY 2 towns in the whole of this kingdom are linked by busroutes-its just that you sometimes have to change en-route, as is the case here.

Loads of buses VIA Loei (coming from upnorth-so never garantee on empty seats) to Khon Khaen, from there to Mukdaharn-and then the crossbridge=border shuttle. With a very early start can be done in 1 day-but read the posts about this bordercrossing and opening times. It may be wiser to overnite in KK or a little further along.

Alternatively go by day via Udorn-direct bus to VTE, you have to pay to get Lao visum anyway, then the sleepy overnite Lao bus to Svkt for next morning early arrival.

Many thanks for the info, in the past I have always gone to Nong Khai on my bike, then over the bridge and down to Vientiane on the bus, I have now heard that they are not issuing Non "O" Visas there but ok at Savannakhet.
