September 29, 201411 yr Hi--I've search the forums and found some partial and dated information. I would like to have my 12 year old son depart Chiang Mai airport and fly to the US, probably on a Delta Airlines ticket. The flight from Chiang Mai would be with Korean, but code shared with Delta. His mother (Thai) will see him off at the airport. He is a dual US/Thai citizen. What kind of paperwork does he need to clear immigration? I have heard about a notarized statement from the parents. Is there a standard format? Anything else he requires? I understand he will also need paperwork for Delta Airlines, and I can work with them on those requirements. But any recent experience anyone has on these kinds of issues is appreciated. Thanks!
September 30, 201411 yr First time my daughter flew to the us alone she was 13. She needed nothing to clear immigration other than her 2 passports i think under that u need pay more money to the airline as they have to have 1. someone collect her and need escort her from you to her seat from imigration and 2. designate someone on the other end to receive her and she will be escorted to them thru customs an dimigration the airlines should be able to tell you exactly

Almost surely, they will want to know the name and relationship of the person who will meet her on her arrival in the U.S. They will want that person to show photo I.D. before hey will allow your daughter to go with whoever meets her. I expect they will want to know that before they release her in the U.S. on arrival. They are very strict about this, because once they accept responsibility for her. they are legally liable for anything that happens to her until they release her to whoever meets her in the U.S.
October 1, 201411 yr Author Thanks. The Delta website has an unaccompanied minor form, as well as other documentation requirements. But no other info on Thai immigration requirements? Just want to make sure everything will be fine there too. Thanks again!
October 2, 201411 yr Thai immigration can (and most time will) ask for the birth certificate with the parents name on it and written authorization letter from the father that he allows to leave the child Thailand.
