Extending Double Entry Visa without leaving Thailand?

Featured Replies

I know that I can extend a 60 day visa by 30 days within Thailand, but was wondering if I could renew a double entry visa without actually leaving as well - If not It's a visa run a Ranong I suppose.

To activate the second entry you must leave Thailand, enter another country, leave and then re-enter Thailand. You can not activate it in Thailand Just a heads up: Recent reports indicate that Ranong has been strictly enforcing the rules and you should might have to show that you have 20k baht and a ticket out of Thailand during your second entry. If you don't they night not let you leave Thailand-so you won't be stranded in Myanmar. Good luck!

That doesn't make much sense, as I already have the visa, it's not like I'm just trying to get another free 30 days.

They just make it difficult, so have your hotel bookings, 20,000 bt to show, and ticket printout.

You are coming back in for 60 days, not 30. They want, and have the right, to insure that you have money to support yourself during your stay (not working) and a ticket exiting the country when it's over.

As far as not letting you into Myanmar, they will review your documents and if they determine hat they are not what is required to let you back in they won't let you leave, otherwise you would be stranded in Myanmar. They will tell you to go to another port of entry or fly out where you might have better luck. Actually, it's one of the few things that does make sense!

Considering you can "obtain a 30 day extension at any immigration office. Fee baht 1900 Passport Photo x 1 Tm .7 Form Photocopy of current permission to stay stamp and departure card from passport. Photocopy of picture page from passport." of course it makes little sense. Of course I have an onward ticket & it's not a problem to have 20,000 baht, but having already been granted a 2nd entry visa by the Kingdom and being refused is highly unlikely.

In practice Ranong just don't want anyone entering visa exempt. If you have a visa and the other supporting documents you do not have a problem.

If I I did re-enter via let's say Cambodia or Malaysia - I doubt they would ask for these requirements with my visa - not an exempt.

Dannok to Malaysia can be difficult at times, they expect to be greased.

No, it is not highly unlikely. People re indeed refused entry for multiple reasons even with a visa in their passport. It does happen.

Sounds like a lot of BULL to me, most "tourists" don't have a problem, only those with multiple stamps doing constant border crossings - trying to stay in Thailand as long as possible.

Since you know better, what are you doing asking here?

To be honest I already knew I couldn't renew a double entry within Thailand, but was curious as if it's ever been done or maybe a new rule popped up due to the decrease in tourism.

Secondly, I've never been asked for proof of onward travel, cash and what hotel I'm at - no matter which country I've arrived from when re-entering Thailand, including Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia and the time I did a visa run in Ranong - (when they were only giving 14 days to G7 visitors) The only issue were the scammers trying to pull a fast one.

No problem, your "never happened to me, hence ..." is known to be a popular one.

Just let us know how it goes at Ranong without any document beside your double entry visa.

Who said I wouldn't have any documentation if I choose that option?

I always have what I need when I cross borders - I'm just stating I've never been asked.
