Accident Motorcyclist Killed After Big Bike Crashes Into Pickup & Slams Into Utility Pole
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 42-year-old man was killed in a road crash on the morning of 16 June, when his big bike collided with the rear of a pickup truck before careening into a utility pole along Phahonyothin Road in Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani. Police Lieutenant Colonel Siroj Naebnian, Deputy Inspector of Khlong Luang Police Station, received the emergency call at around 05:30. Emergency responders from the Por Teck Tung Foundation and forensic medics from Thammasat University Hospital were dispatched to the scene, approximately 50 metres before a petrol station on the outbound frontage road. At the scene, officers found the lifeless body of Mr. Jirasak 42, near his overturned Honda 650cc motorcycle bearing Lopburi registration. Impact marks and damage on the footpath suggested the motorcycle had hit a pole with significant force. Roughly 30 metres away, a grey Isuzu pickup truck with Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya plates was found with its left rear tail light torn off. The pickup truck driver, Mr. Kritsada also 42, told investigators that he had been driving from Nava Nakorn Industrial Estate in the express lane and intended to exit into the petrol station via the parallel road. “I checked the mirror and saw no vehicle approaching,” he claimed. “Suddenly, I heard a loud crash. I didn’t even see where the motorbike came from.” After documenting the scene, police transported the deceased to Thammasat University Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Mr. Kritsada was brought to Khlong Luang Police Station for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are working to determine the precise cause of the accident, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Initial findings suggest excessive speed and lane merging may have contributed to the fatal collision. Adapted by Asean Now from Khoasod 2025-06-17 -

Report Cambodian Workers Flee Sisaket, Thailand Amid Border War Fears
Even more panicked a few years back when Thailand said it was going to clamp down on migrant workers who had not been processed through official channels. Thousands fled and Hun Sen had to send buses to the border to ferry the people home. On that occasion Thailand shot itself in the foot because businesses could not get Thais to to do the hard labour that Cambodians were paid peanuts to do. The building industry and horticulture were two of the worst affected. -

Report Police Raid Pattaya Walking Street to Stop Underage Labour and Laughing Gas Abuse
Picture courtesy of Daily News Authorities target human trafficking and laughing gas use, banning underage labour on Pattaya's Walking Street. On 16th June, under the leadership of top-ranking police officials, a coordinated enforcement operation targeted Pattaya’s renowned Walking Street. The efforts, involving local and immigration police along with social development officers, aimed to tackle human trafficking and activities endangering public safety. Brigadier General Songklod Krikkritya emphasised their mission to heighten awareness among nightclub operators about the risks of human trafficking. Businesses are strictly prohibited from employing anyone under 18, as this could facilitate exploitation, leading to severe legal consequences under anti-trafficking laws. Moreover, the authorities enforced a ban on entry for individuals under 20 and strictly prohibited weapons and drugs within these venues. A particular focus was placed on curbing the illicit sale of nitrous oxide, or 'laughing gas', increasingly prevalent and posing health risks. Despite the intense scrutiny, no significant issues were reported during the inspection, thanks to the ongoing stringent measures by local agencies. Continuous legal action and a comprehensive long-term strategy ensure the safety and integrity of the area. The public is encouraged to report any illegal activities to the hotline at 1191, operational 24/7. Picture courtesy of Daily News Adapted by ASEAN Now from [source] 2025-06-17 -
