20 provinces warned of heavy rains from 4-7 Oct

BANGKOK, 5 October 2014 (NNT) - The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued a warning of heavy rains from 4 - 7 October to 20 provinces. The heavy rains might cause floods, flash floods, overflowing of rivers and landslides.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Anusorn Kaeokangwan informed governors of 20 provinces, most of them in the southern region, of the heavy rains caused by monsoon troughs and the southwest monsoon. The heavy rains were expected in some areas of the central and eastern regions and many southern provinces. High waves and strong winds were also expected, said the official.

In order to prevent natural disasters caused by the heavy rains, the 20 provinces were told to warn residents living in coastal and disaster-prone areas to be cautious and prepare measures to tackle possible flash floods and landslides during these 3-4 days.
